YMB is my all-time favorite BMW blue and they don’t even offer it currently as an individual color for the M3’s and M4’s.

Younger drivers do want convertibles!

He told me that his license plate that starts with a Z and ends with a 4 says it all as he is waiting for the 6MT Z4 to be released so he would use the same plate!
There’s another guy with a modded M2 over in that forum who has a Florida plate with ZVPRA. Stepping up!

For decades now the highest accolade that could be given to BMW's standard color pallete has been nothing more than a dissapointing meh.

It’s not just them though. Looking at other manufacturers websites, it’s basically the same.

Yeah, but the bulk of the Porsche ones are special order. Can do the same for BMW, just not on the Z.

Paint to sample is $13k
718 is already overpriced to begin with
911 starts at $120k
Not exactly a fair comparison

The colors for G8x and Z are getting old, although as some have said at least the M3/4 can be special order individual for a reasonable price. Need a refresh of the palette for sure imo.

If BMW offered their "Individual" color selection to Z4 buyers, I think you would have many people waiting a little longer and paying the extra money in order to own something very special. Unfortunately their partner Magna Steyr in Austria who manufactures the car does not have this capability.

I'd be cool if they would have just let us "borrow" some of that yellow paint they have sitting there that they're using for the Supra

BTW, I think they manufacture the Mercedes G-Wagon at Magna (at least they used to), and you can get that in their special-order colors. So I'm not sure it's a Magna Steyr issue.

If that is correct, then the culprit is either they have a limited capacity for doing special colors, or that BMW simply does not want to do it.

G wagon has the profit margins to warrant the special colors plus lower volume I would imagine

But they’ve been selling them for decades. Most that I see are older than the G29.

Looks like they've sold 5,770 in North America for 2023 through Q2 numbers. That's about 5 times the. number of Z4's sold. Crazy, seeing how $$ they are.

They leave out the biggest factor: the new G87 M2. Maybe that’s what caused the S58 Supra rumor.

Google translate FTW!

"If the S-type engine of the M3 and M4 is not handed over like the current model, and the B-type engine, which is said to be a heavy shopping car engine, will come in the next model, it would be better for Toyota to develop it in-house"

But seriously, I think we can all agree that the world has more than enough heavy shopping cars?

FWIW, it's not clear to me that the BMW being discussed will be a direct replacement for the Z4:

From the comments: "BMW wanted to make a successor to the i8 from the first collaboration, but Toyota forced it to become a large exhaust FR sports, so BMW's eco-color will be prioritized this time."

And: https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/i8-m

Maybe this will be an i8/Supra tie-up of some sort?
