Yep, BMW was smart to stockpile their chips early which had their dealer lots filled more than both Audi and Benz for a while but now, its pretty much dead regardless of brand.

If you want a new car, its pretty much order to your specifications and wait, otherwise you have the choice of only a small amount of cars per dealer to which you could probably count on one hand!

Has anyone had their order changed? Mercedes seems to have amended a lot of orders and giving our credits for things like augmented navigation. I think BMW has handled the shortage the best of the 3 with regards to fulfilling orders without amendments.

There are a couple of threads on the M5 forums about options being removed even after the order was placed. Bowers & Wilkins audio option seems to be the last one that disappeared from build website and some orders:

Look man, I know you are calling me for a reason. I've got the only new white 640GT in the country. That both a good thing and a bad thing. Please don't rip my face off.

Or maybe this article shows that BMW is full of sh*t and there is no "vehicle storage" as they have hyped up (AKA you are a sucker if you pay MSRP or anywhere close).

Kind of like what Rolex is doing....not really a shortage there, either.

Brutal for Mini. I love my 2004 Mini and am really surprised to see that fall off as I'm assuming the driving experience would've only gotten better after all the development through the years

Somebody in this forum told me the other day that the 4 Series isn't selling... well, not according to these figures.

It seems my prediction was right. Despite the super hyped efforts of some to bully BMW into changing their ways, most normal people love what BMW is doing and the 4 Series sales clearly proves it.

Appears the number is heavily aided by the new M3/M4 launch in 2021. Models other than 3 and 4 series are not doing that well in passenger cars.

The increase still puts it far behind the 3 and 5 series, and like another poster said is mostly propped up by M4 sales.

Hell, even the more niche older 2 series is nearly beating it.

I wouldn't call that a huge win at all.

At my local dealer for service right now and the parking lot and showroom are empty. This place use to be overflowing with cars. The shortage issue is real, my jaw dropped when I rolled in this morning.

It’s a huge win, considering gran coupe which is the bigger seller isn’t even out yet.

I'm struggling to understand how sales are up when inventories at dealers are so low and prices are so high. I guess there must have been pent up demand. What happens in Q4? Sales go up again?

Agreed, but timing also plays in seeing the 2020 reduced there since the G22 4 series order/pricing guides didn't go out until Q3 2020. I think deliveries were occurring in Q4. So you're likely looking at the people that slurped up the last of the 2020 models, convertibles, etc. in Q3.

Literally just 2 cars at my local dealer. Surprised nobody slurped them up yet as they're somewhat desirable... at least those after a coupe. X4 M40i and a G82 Comp xDrive in Toronto/Silverstone. The X4 has been there for a while, they must've just gotten in the M4.
