Cadillac CT4-V
In case anyone is interested. The CT4 has been revealed. Looks much better than the CT5 IMO. It will arrive just in time for me to retire the E90 at 400K...

I could never buy a Caddy. Stuck in my mind that it is old man’s car without the handling and performance of a straight car 6 BMW.

Go drive an ATS; it will completely change that thought. LOL

No. It will be at 400,000 by the time the CT4 is out and available a year from now. It's the last of the classic 3-series with a manual transmission and naturally aspirated I6. I've been waiting to retire it for about a few years now. I want to keep it until they ban gasoline.

Only gripe I have is they should have called them v-sports, as they are obviously intentioned to compete with the 340/S4 level offerings.

Liked the old ATS-V and CTS-V much better. The newer CT4/5 seems "softer", but who knows until the actual cars arrive. I'm still mulling over with picking up one of those CTS-V wagon with 3 pedals - if I only have an extra garage space

I was impressed with the ATS but it still did not match the magic of the E90. Still better than the putrid effort put out by the F30.
Regardless, GM always cuts corners with their Cadillac division. From questionable interior materials to GM parts bin switchgear with mediocre fit-and-finish, Cadillac is always a step behind competitors. Let's not forget their terrible residuals and reliability record. Look at photos of the CT4 and CT5's interiors and the same trend continues. In short, Cadillac offers nothing of substance that other competitors don't already do. I think these two new V models are supposed to compete with the likes of C43 and M340 as their power output is way too low to be competition for the M and AMG models. But why not name them V sport like they currently do? GM cannot do anything right with Cadillac.

I don't think I would ever buy a Caddy but I was just watching a review on the CTS-V and I was very surprised that the tech on this vehicle puts the M cars to shame. Watching it, I was like seriously? My car doesn't have that. It can't even fold the mirrors on it's own.
I've never driven one so I'll leave it at that. I think it looks nice thought. |

styling is hideous.
i like that it has less and more useable power. no manual; no care. back in the day i'd considered getting a CTS-V Wagon with a 6 speed but the quality of the car was atrocious. back seats were hard as a cardboard box and it was heavier than a kingpin's factory full of kilos.

I’m a little disappointed with how they look. The way the hood slopes it reminds me of the Malibu. The ATS-V and CTS-V looked dated, but the aggressive look was there. I do like the interiors though. Otherwise, the performance point is in line with the S line for Audi and M sport from BMW.

I like the interior better than the ATS even though the screen was more integrated in the ATS. Looks like CUE got a knob control switchgear now. I'd rather not have and type of interactive interface, but that's me. I've given up on hoping for a manual transmission in anything going forward. I was going to pull the trigger on one of the few remaining ATS hanging around when I saw the CT5, but seeing the CT4, I think I'll wait. It sounds like Cadillac is sticking with the driving dynamics of the Alpha chassis, which I was hoping they'd do and not go F30 with it.

I'm more interested in the CT5 V, but the CT4 V's 50/50 weight distribution is nice.

This was debated while I was at Cadillac. I agree with you 100% but the powers that be did not. I thought one of the many mistakes was not marketing the CTS V-sport more. I felt that was one of their better cars that most people didn't know about (thus sold poorly). Had the same engine as the ATS-V (slightly detuned to 420/420) but plenty quick. It was a well priced in between the lower powertrains and the monster that is the V. Unfortunately they felt the V-sport name was not well recognized and went the way of many of the other OEMs (like the M340, M550 way vs the M-sport) and now will dilute the V-series and have a new naming convention for the "true" Vs. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, they are going the German brand nomenclature route. Base C-class, C43 AMG, C63 AMG = Base CT5, CT5-V, CT5 Blackwing https://www.motor1.com/news/352808/b...adillac-brand/ |

I drove the CTS-V shortly after that and was super impressed. Yes it has more horsepower then the M3 but it weighted a lot more. I have now tracked a new M3. As of today I think the M3 would win, as I believe that was a wake up call for BMW. Side note.....I give Caddy props for producing the CTS-V wagon back then. Awesome piece of American muscle machinery in a wagon! They are extremely hard to find now and held their value. |

This thing just doesn't look good or aggressive. Most of the time when I think of Cadillac I still think of old people(unless we are talking about the sweet/aggressive looking CTS-V's) and this new offering does not help to change that opinion.

I think I saw it in black in press shots. In a sea of samey looking cars these stand out. I dig them. I just wish Cadillac wasn’t so conservative with the body shape. The regular models always end up looking really narrow from the flat sheet metal. With some fender flares, suspension kit, and manual this could be like an upscale American evo. Would be a fun car to experiment with and try something really new - never owned an American performance car. With a manual I see potential, but I’m obviously not their target demographic.
I’d hate to hit the front end against anything though. Those new L shape headlights look expensive to replace. |
