Call me contrary, but I prefer the low weight, low space usage soft top. I am driving an E85 3.0 and love the car after 14 years. That said, the door clunk is hollow (I know that I could add dampening) and the ride is harsh over roads that are anything less than track perfect (next tyres will be non run-flat).

I am hoping that the G29 will have a more sophisticated suspension setup than the E85.

As for the engine, I have the B58 in my X3 M40i and mated to the 8 speed transmission it is awesome. I will miss the 6 speed manual in my Z4 but I fear that the days of 3 pedals are coming to an end everywhere.

Absolutely love the new digital instrument cluster on the Z4 and some of the other 19 models coming out. I noticed Z4 has heads up display disappointing they don't offer it on the M2 Comp.

Hate the digital gauge cluster, but they lost me at automatic-only anyway. Don't care if it's faster - a pure sports car (two seats, rwd, soft top - to me) is all about emotion and I need the interaction a stick provides - just an opinion but it's a deal killer for me.

Glad to see the soft top is back, however, and glad that ANY new sports car is heading for production. The front bumper is ok to me but it was much nicer/simpler on the concept; not loving the head lights (doesn't say 'BMW' at all) nor the grille inserts (reminds me of M-B CLA), and it has long overhangs front and rear. The whole thing IS interesting to look at though.

My apologies if this video has been posted. Sounds kind of nice....

It's the color. I have to admit it's starting to grow on me also. I have to see it in person to have a proper opinion on it.

How do you still have run flats after 14 years? Ditching them for a decent conventional tire is the very first mod E85 / E86 owners typically make as soon as they get the car. I replaced mine with Hankook Ventus V12's and was amazed at the improvement. I now have a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the car and they are even better.

An M version with a manual transmission in this color combo. Then I'd be a happy camper!

Not looking forward to the Canadian prices. Its kinda like the difference between highway mileage signs in the US versus Canada: you guys get 60 mph and we get 100kph. BMW apparently thinks that the same 100 / 60 ratio applies to Canadian versus US pricing.

But as a sporty roadster, the sound, the look G29 is awesome!
The front is sporty, soft top is excellent news, lighter and makes for better proportions. let´s see if we´ll see a full blown M.
Love your enthusiasm for the G29! I'll need to drive it before calling it one of the finest Z ever but we're definitely looking great so far
