I vaguely recall press release (or maybe someone posted it here) that the 7.2020 or 8.2020 is going to be available OTA in fall.

My M40i is a 2020, but my software is 11/2019.70, so what makes your 2020 different?

I call this BS. That would mean after the first year you would not see any OTA upgrades. Not going to happen.

Every new version got a new version number. So i assume, once BMW let the 07/2020, every capable car will be upgraded. |

After Tesla they are the first to do so and we are all beta tester. If you have no issues with the software your car came with I'd be careful to update going forward. In the German forum folks are complaining about undesired changes to motor management or exhaust noise.

After issues with my last OTA update I will only do this whilst parked at my nearest BMW dealer/service location...
I'd also skip the update if I wasn't having issues with Apple Carplay bugging out all the time so I'm eager for improvements in the software. Of course, the new update might have no fixes there, or the problem might be on the Apple side of things, but regardless it does compel me to update just in case. Otherwise I'd follow 'if it ain't broke don't mess with it' viewpoint. |

I received the OTA update recently and love spotify. First oil change due this week (however car seems to change its own oil) Only 7000 miles and needed 2 quarts already. Should i ask dealer for software upgrade or not. I don't want the cars performance to suffer as a result, but i also feel with latest software i might be first to get Android Auto .
