CARLY OBD
I recently purchased a CARLY OBD reader - what a waste of money! I used the free CARLY app from Apple store then ran a check on my X5 whilst waiting for my M40i to be delivered. It came up with more than 70 issues and then prompted me to take up their annual subscription. I opted for the one time free report via email and was so glad I did - total garbage.
Can anyone recommend any other iphone app that is compatible with the CARLY dongle or do i just throw it in the bin? |

I've had no issues with BimmerCode, just make sure you have the correct dongle for the G series

i wouldn't use any of those apps and would use the ESYS application. I have had issues with Bimmecode crashing my ECUs before and corrupting hte CAFD, resulting in a fix only possible with ESYS. Glad I grew-up with ESYS since 2012 with BMW, so i'm very familiar with it since F-chassis F01/F10.
If you are going to resort to an app ... bimmercode is hte better choice and BEST interface is still a BMW ENET OBD2 to Ethernet cable used with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and iPad. I use this configuration with my iPad Pro and Bimmercode app since the ENET compatibility was added and i can say it is a much more stable app since. The convenience of coding by app is great when making a few changes ... but you can't VO_Code yet with bimmercode, and are limited to the pre-defined features Steven programs into the application unless you know how to use expert mode ... at which point, you are basically at the same knowledge level and able to use ESYS (free) with the same $20 high-speed ENET cable compared to the overpriced bluetooth serial adapters with awfully slow and unreliable speeds |
