Definitely the Subaru is a much more sober product. I like the interior in this fashion, very nice:

Not much difference in the rear though :

How would the 1M fit in there:

The 1M is 4380mm long... so it would be between the shorter Toyobaru and the bigger Genesis Coupe.

Holy cow, that really puts the small size into perspective!

Yes! Bigger means heavier... there's no other way of keeping the curb weight as low as 1200kg (2646 lb) and the price down, all at the same time, whithout downsizing.

Where the Miata ends, fun wise, the Toyobaru just keeps going on... with the added bonus of practicality.

A no brainer, if you like the low weight concept of the Miata but you desire more performance and practicality.

Personally, I always liked Coupés much better than roadsters... but that's me, your mileage may vary.

I was surprised to see the Z4 2.8 is actually not all that heavy, listed as 3263 at BMWUSA, considering it has a turbo charged motor, a folding hard top and heavier rolling stock, that's not too bad.

I'm also surprised to see that my Z3 M Coupe is only an inch longer than the current Miata. Now if BMW would just build a Z2 already, I'd get back to ignoring these ugly little things.

Z3 M Coupe
Miata
Toyobaru

Ashetics aside, you've got to love all of them for the pure joy of the driving fun.

Toyobaru is, however, the perfect cocktail:

1) Low weight;

2) Low center of gravity;

3) Low drag coefficient (Cd);

4) Relatively low fuel consumption;

5) Low price;

6) High-rev engine;

7) Classic boxer-engine sound;

8) RWD with LSD;

9) The superior Double wishbone rear suspension to enhance handling; (Due to the lack of room, by virtue of the naturally larger flat-engine, the front suspensions are MacPherson struts just llike in Porsches);

10) Coupe's extra rigidity;

11) Weight distribution of 53/47% between front and rear;

12) Good rear space (but not true 4 seats );

Now go and try to match that... a NO BRAINER!!!

A used Cayman S. The great thing about Porsches in general is that many are folks weekend cars, so getting a low mileage, reasonably priced used one isn't difficult. Since as tested weight of the 86 is showing up around 2800 pounds, I'd gladly take the extra 150 pounds of a Cayman S for the 60% power increase.

I really like where the 86/BRZ is going though, I think it's an interesting rewrite for Subaru that could take the STi to an interesting new place. I don't care for the style of this one, but give it more power, keep the weight relatively low and don't burden it with awd and I'd be tempted.

No, and no mouse fur sprayed onto cardboard for a headliner either. I've driven Subaruu.

Levi,

I would if I was going to buy this Subaru, thank you!

But, because of Subaru's lack of backseat leg room... I've just ordered an 1M instead!

So, now I'm a BMW guy back again, hence the reason why I'm in this forum... but that doesn't prevent me from full apreciate what an accomplished car this Subaru is (or any other equally good car for that matter) and how it can be better than the 1M. That's the reason why I was banned from the 1M forum, because I can fault what I drive or what I want to drive and I can prize what the others drive.

Levi, you can't go wrong with this Subaru, I wish I was your age! Go for it and have a ball!
