California fires

Anyone else dealing with this right now? I have lots of family evacuated now. Wife's parents are MIA. Everyone stressed out.

Not directly but have friends in the Santa Rosa area who have evacuated from their home. Good luck to the folks in NorCal!

I'm from Sonoma and grew up in Glen Ellen. My mom lives in Sonoma in the hills. Yesterday was very worrisome and shocking. Still having many friends living in Sonoma my Facebook feed was going nuts yesterday. Very tough to see the pictures.

Everyone is still evacuated, but now accounted for. I'm calling that a win.

Family sending me images. Just crazy in Santa Rosa.

I was reading about the fires over lunch. They sound terrible. Hope everyone living in the impacted areas is ok. Sounds like wineries are getting impacted too.

Seems like the only thing in the news for the last month has been death and destruction...can we just get back to talking about Trump?

Washingtonpost.com

NYTimes.com

Every European paper (with probably a dot com end)

Every Canadian paper (they use the stupid ending)

Trump is covered. Now we all wonder exactly how many disasters can one country have at the same time they change back to coal. No shit, we have a ton of opinion pieces about that, and also the ww3 gets good ratings.

And if nothing else helps, there is always the thread about how to fuck a chicken. We have trump covered!

I have some friends in ca, and i haven't contacted any of them since I'm pretty sure they rather die than get an other burst of my mother hen tendencies. I wish you all the best who are touched with this.

Im within 10 miles of the Orange County fire. Saw a huge smoke cloud yesterday. For now it's just very dirty air.

I have a house in Corona and Anaheim Hills, previous two weeks the Corona the fire came to our backyard, we had to evacuate. Yesterday the fire burned down the houses at the end of the neighborhood in Anaheim Hills. Still evacuated, seems like I've been lucky both times around.

Anaheim Hills is nicely planned in terms of the housing and roads, but it is so close to all that brush/dry land. If it's not fire it's still the dry heat.

Perfect time for us NOT to be fighting with the neighbor water company over a shared emergency interconnect and the easement we need to allow access to read the meter. WE are about to rip it out and abandon 70 years of shared support. . . smh

I grew up in Santa Rosa and my mom's entire neighborhood burned. Really crazy to see a fire of this magnitude in such a populated area.

Sad situation. All too familiar with fire dangers in Cali. Grew up in SoCal, my family home near Malibu almost burned down a couples during my childhood.

Everyone knows when it is dry season and Santa Ana winds kick up...it is perfect storm for fires. Sadly a lot of them are by arson.

These pictures are horrifying. Sorry to forum members with family affected.

My good friend lost the house he grew up in. His dad's in his 80's and made it out in the nick of time. The house and the memories are gone, but at least they are alive.

To give you some idea of the heat, here's a photo of what's left of his Weber BBQ.

^ Sorry, but I couldn't help but think "RUN, before the Terminator pulls itself back together"

I hadn't been watching local news, but caught some last night. Anaheim is burning, like right in the middle of the city???
