Another PB M40i added to the family

So I'm officially part of the Z4 family now, took delivery this afternoon. Absolutely love the color and the color combo. I also have the moonlight soft top and it looks great! The 772's are deceptive in pictures and on BMW's configurator, the black is matte black and the spokes are very pronounced, extremely glad I got those. The silver lip was worrying me in some of the pics I've seen but in person, they look amazing.

Already added the UR Windschott glass wind deflector, sat in traffic most of the way home, but the wind wasn't too noticeable. It's been about 7 months since I test drove one with the stock deflector to compare against but just for visibility and the clean look, I won't use the stock one. Everyone at the dealer loved the look of it too.

I'll add more impressions once I get to drive it more but rain tomorrow and Saturday so Sunday drive it is!

Very nice spec, and congrats on the new ride!

That satin finish is pretty slick, but I'm still not sold on the silver lip. Still, the wheels definitely look much better than in the configurator (but I think that's true for every single wheel available for the vehicle).

Also, Interesting data-point to see that a '24 MY vehicle was fitted with the Continental SportContact 6 tires.

Very nice spec. The black and blue flows well, where it should, especially on the nose, and the IWV interior pops. The 772s look amazing (I have them as well). That outer machined ring adds for just the right amount of contrast at the wheel. This car will certainly command some looks.

That's lovely. Love the black wheels with the blue. I'm torn between PB and Thundernight for my next swap. Decisions decisions.

Best part of those wheels is that they look incredibly easier to clean

I had the orbit grey on my g80. Loved them. They went from grey to darker grey when dirty. And had nice depth to them as well.

I have the Orbit Greys now and they look fantastic, but they are just so hard to clean. Alot of small crevices and areas to squeeze around. I spend more time cleaning wheels than I do the rest of the car during a wash.

Ah, mine were different than yours, assuming your pics are up-to-date and you're referring to your 30i. Check out my garage G80. Even harder to clean!

By the way a set of soft brushes would make your job easier!

Here's the set I went with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Very nice looking. I am not a fan of black wheels, but this style looks pretty good. I think the silver lip does it for me because it gives it some contrast to prevent it from blending in with the tires.

They're going to incredibly easy to clean compared to my Vossen's on the X5. But I only have to clean those 6 months out of the year.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Already picked up a few things based on comments and info in the forum. I think other than ppf the only other major thing I'm debating is exhaust. I think it deserves the quad tips I don't think I've seen much discussion on that and the exhaust note is very nice already, not sure I want to add anything that will drone at speed.

I've never been crazy about black wheels but when I was looking for a car I saw a Misano Blue with shadowline and the solid black wheels and I was sold. The pictures really don't do these wheels justice though. That's why I added that close up.

Totally respect your opinion... Others have called it too classic.

For those who don't prefer a fully black wheel, the silver lip is just enough contrast. Works very well on a black car + shadowline to balance the murdered out look.

Here are my thoughts two weeks into it.

Yes, you're all right, I'd make it my daily if I could but too much nonsense on the freeways here to risk that.
  • Overall, love the car and the way it drives. Seats are comfortable (I'm 5'6" so they fit me nicely).
  • Cupholders, eh, I deal with them and carry a smaller water bottle or stick it in the net.
  • Rear wind deflector, I don't even remember how the screen one felt, only used it in my test drive 8 months ago. Love the clarity and fit of the UR-Windschott. I never take the deflector out.
  • Electronics, work the same or similar to my X5 so nothing major there.
  • Windshield wipers.. I wish my X5 had the same set up but I have to push a button to turn them on auto, the Z4 the stalk flips up and just stays. Even on fast setting the wipers weren't quite speeding up enough this weekend.
  • Tires, it's "probably" me just being a little heavy on the long skinny pedal but I feel like the Conti's break free way too easily. I've also had some type of German AWD vehicle for the last 20 years as my daily driver and none of them over 300hp so there's that. Back to, it's probably my foot is the problem. I'd definitely love to see the difference with Pilot Sports.

So am I pleased with getting the M40i, definitely, wouldn't do it any different. Although the 3.0i would probably lead to less tire wear. I'm in a loaner X3 3.0i and it's no slouch so I'm certain a Z4 moves in that trim as well and I'd still have the same issue.

Sadly, I'm out of the Z4 for the week while it gets ppf and they found a chip in the front end already. So I guess I shouldn't have put on those 600miles before my ppf appointment. I don't know when I got the chip, it could have been on the way home from pick up but I didn't notice it. I'm not one to get bent out of shape over car damage, just fix and move on. Still sad that it happened so soon.

Anyway, it's meant to be driven, feels like it's meant to be driven and it's absolutely fun to drive. Happy to be part of the fam and absolutely satisfied with the Z4.

Gorgeous! My nearly identically spec'd M40i is on a ship today (only diff is I got the red brake calipers). Same colors, wheels. Your great pics only further affirm my choices. Can't wait to experience what you are experiencing now!
