Used as an ingredient in some illegal drug. Some stores keep the stuff locked away to prevent shoplifting, and also limit the number sold to each customer.

Late 40's and I got carded recently too! Granted, I was wearing a hat, and some of these kids nowadays are some gnarly looking mutants, so I guess I look like a High School senior who partied waaaaay too hard through grade school.

I only get carded when I happen to not have my ID on me. I don't know how they know but they always seem to, and I can do nothing but drop my head, push the alcohol back and say "I'll be back".

Then when I come back it's always a different cashier so I get so sense of victory at all.

They didn’t actually ask for my card just my birthday. Maybe they think I can’t do the math fast enough versus making up an age.

Same here. The later I am trying to get somewhere, the greater the chance of getting caught behind an Anti-Destination League driver. Never fails.

If you bought Sudafed or another product with pseudoephedrine that they keep behind the counter, a lot of places (if not all) card you. If you watched Breaking Bad you might recognize if as a main ingredient in meth and there are legal limits in how much you can buy. Also, they probably aren’t just carding you, but also tracking your purchases. I don’t think you can buy that stuff online.

(I have sinus issues and used to buy Sudafed until a ENT told me years ago it does more harm than good and gave me an Rx for Singulair, which works much better and is covered by insurance.)

The ENT was worried about Sudafed but is ok with Singulair? An ENT prescribed Singulair for me once, but I never filled it because of the possible side effects. Maybe ENTs are ok with the risks, but I wasn't.

Sorry that I totally forgot that your mum was in town for the holidays, so you have to be a good little angel for a week or two and put away the leather ATGATT.....

Is that because you look young or because the stores stick to a policy?

I'm guessing it's because it's the store's policy.

I suspect it's a little of both, currently people seem to think that I'm about 45.

The comment about Sudafed wasn’t that he was worried about it causing harm via side effects (although there is some potential for that, as there is with every drug including OTC medicine), but rather that it wasn’t effective other than for short periods and if used for long periods actually makes congestion worse (the “more harm than good”).

American Graffiti syndrome. A dude over 21 buys booze for the under age kid standing outside the door.
