Local broadcast stations are expensive to buy and operate, and their revenue sources and viewership are shrinking like mad. Weather is one of the their money makers.

Sun goes down at 6 -- Shocking! Video at 11!!! Stay tuned!!!!!!

The latest round of snow just started here a few minutes ago.

The National Weather Service has forecast 1-2 inches, plus a glaze ice or sleet.

The regional TV news is saying 2-6" of snow.

The Weather Panic Channel is saying 3-6", and showing live video from Chicago as it is crippled from a minor accumulation of snow.

Get off my lawn, Jim Cantore...and take your remote satellite broadcast van with you!!!!!

Late last week and over the weekend they were talking about 6 inches here. I guess they have to hype something. It just started here within the hour and it's a mix of freezing rain and snow. Latest forecast was for maybe an inch but turning to rain.

Looks like Buffalo, Rochester is getting hit pretty hard (as per usual). We've only got about 3 inches in 3 hours on the other side of Erie. Toronto area highways are a mangled heap as no one knows what snow looks like anymore.

It's sad when reporting any amount of snow fall is news in the winter time.

Oh, the huge manatee. Yesterday, while the wind was blowing midday, it was 52. They listed the wind chill at something ridiculous like 47.

I actually saw frost in the leeward side of the roofs Sunday, before the sun rose high enough. I wore sweats under my blanket to watch the football games.

Another storm coming to the northeast on Monday. Forecast totals anywhere from a dusting to a foot or more. It looked to me like the Philly NWS office already put up winter storm watches for southern NJ and PA, which means they are tentatively expecting 6+ inches of snow. NYC and points north will not see as much, at least from the too-far-out model runs that I saw this afternoon.

On the bright side, my new snow/ice wiper blades for the Mighty Dodge came in today. I actually have to leave the COVID bunker on Monday morning, and it will be nice to be able to see where I'm going.....

Stupid NWS site keeps “upgrading” so I am having trouble getting local hazard forecast. But they do keep raising the snowfall numbers on the normal forecast page. And the forecast of snow over several consecutive days is unchanged.

I recently traded our 2011 Lexus GS350 ‘beater’ for a 2013 E350 4Matic wagon. The Lexus had a “snow/ice” mode that worked pretty darn well. The Merc has no such button. If we get white roads I intend to go out and see what’s what in that regard. Worst case I will walk home and haul out the Taco.

Better safe than sorry. I lived in Pearl River County, Mississippi when Katrina hit us in 2005. We took a direct hit from that storm as the eye went right over us and were not prepared.

Now any tropical storm warning, my ass prepares. I don't fuck around with Mother Nature or take chances.

New Orleans flooded, but Mississippi took a far worse hit...

I mean, statistically someone is probably doing to die on the road driving in any kind of weather. So it isn't untrue.

By this logic, watch out for water. People die in water too. Oh, and car accidents. We’re all driving death machines.

Sensationalism is now normal. Yuck.
