Did you know that HAM's 3-wheel lap was 1:55.484 whole the Porsche Cup pole position qualifying lap was 2:02.483?

Yeah I mentioned that in my comment and the Lawrence fist bump before the race. Rumor is there announcement was supposed to be this past weekend but Checo's infection stopped them.

Positive mate . And did you know from what HAM did was "Not Safe" ?

Actually It's forbidden by the FIA safety regulations .And a penalty should/would follow ...
But like usual...The FIA was sleeping !

Mate . That's for sure . HAM in the '20 Merc is untouchable ...Even stronger and faster than last year !
That's what MAX said in his latest Dutch article from today : "I would be already happy if I could follow the Mercs"

Punctures can happen at any time when you least expect it sometimes with fatal results, remembering Alboretto.

I was thinking that also even with the much stiffer sidewalls designed by Pirelli continuing with a dangerous car at crazy speed is no hero feat however it is put out by the sensation seeking media.A ten second penalty would be appropriate in this case for a kamikaze stunt like that but as you say fia sunglasses were misted!

Lewis was on 3 wheels in last 5-6 corners only guys out of 18, it wasnt a full lap on 3 wheels..
and thinking Porsches can only achieve like 250-260kmh on Hangar but Lewis did like 230kmh on 3 wheels with the help of gliding on front wing is pretty close to that.. but almost 40 seconds over one lap in qualifying difference is crazy its like being a year faster..

The tyres must be filled with nitrogen, look at the first pic of Kvyat's tyre before deflation escaping in a momentary gasy haze.

I rode shotgun in a Cayman Clubsport GT4 car (modified to have a passenger seat) and that thing was so fast it scared me! The Porsche RSR is much faster than that car. What I'm saying is that the crippled Merc was even faster than an RSR!!! Crazy.
Whether it was safe or unsafe it's not something I want to weigh in on as I literally do not care 😂 I'm more interested in that car ride Seb had with Otmar 😬

Come on guys!

It's called racing

To bring the 3 wheel Merc over the finish was extremely brave and skilful. F1 is so clinical today as compared to the days of warriors like Niki, Gilles (pic), Senna, Mansell, even Schumacher. We desperate need excitement like this.

If they'd given Lew a penalty for this I would have left the sport for sure (and I'm no Hamilton fan boy).

yeah Pirelli increased the tire pressures for this weekend with softer tires as planned since probably no time to manufacture and transfer different compounds in this short period..

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...t5AVmg1hE.html ..

Grosjean says if Verstappen did that i can do it as well..

Yes but things have to be looked at in perspective,Gilles back them was barely trundling along and ripped of the back left suspension when scraping into pits.HAM on the other hand was going at a crazy speed well around 230kph? losing control with just 3 good control patches doesn't bear thinking about for his safety and the marshals.
Remember Jacque Villeneuve losing control and marshal fatality?

if each driver d stop when they have a problem we wont have much racing going on my friend.. Lewis wasnt spreading carbonfiber all around or anything.. with your approach then Kimi should have been DQ'd last weekend...

Naturally depending on the problem my friend then common sense needs to be applied though with a puncture I think automatic slow down to say pit lane speed if can continue or park up. If bodywork like a wing is flailing then its the stewards job to collar the team and order the driver in for replacement. It was all the teams' decision to use carbon fibre and not alloy as was used not that long ago so it wouldn't be appropriate to give Kimi a penalty for shedding his CF pieces though if he CONTINUES to drive with it (like Leclerc did before) then a penalty would be in order for him for carrying on with a dangerous component.

"Just confirmed by the Pirelli Tire-Investigation"

Like I said yesterday : The issue of the Mercs tires is "NOT" caused by the CF debris on the track .
The cause is a combination of the huge Mercs HP and extreme strong downforce , and driving too long with worn tires ...

Well....If you ask me , that sounds promising to me . Knowing next weekend a softer Pirelli compound will be used .
And as we know ... It won't get too cold !

MAX....Buddy do you hear me ?

did he hear you mate?

cars are crazily fast these days thats for sure but there is still no investigation on the cuts on Max's tires.. thats weird.. Red Bull said that clearly.. high treadwear makes the tires more vulnerable thats for sure..

but from the other side, now at least its more clear for me that McLaren chassis is great and just need a better powertrain.. clearly it uses front tires very nicely since almost at the same time and the very same tire Sainz had problem with was the same with Merc's.. next year we might see McLarens and Ricciardo fighting for podium each race at least.. i strongly believe in this and cant wait to see next year s McLaren with Merc' engine..

*It depends how deep the 'cuts' were, if they were just small nicks from CF litter then it will have little or no effect on tyre performance.
I have an old DTM tyre from few years back and it is like a chewing gum construction, you can dig your finger nails in it!
