That's the 1er sedan, yes? So it's headed to the US then? Good idea because that A Class sedan looks ready to pounce next year, and the A3 is also printing money for Audi.

I see. That's unfortunate. Now is the time for this product. As much of the motoring populace migrates toward crossovers (especially here in the US, but in many other regions too), smaller passenger sedans seem to be among the rare three box vehicles to retain wide appeal. It makes sense because, while you can get an SUV that is smaller than the traditional family sedan, there aren't many that are smaller, lighter, more nimble, as efficient as a compact car. Yet.

Wow more FWD BMWs - way to ruin a brand. Why not creat a sub-brand to sell this crap.
Also if you think FWD cars is salvation, this doesn't sound too promising of where BMW is headed. |

That was with regard to the August US Sales thread, where this was originally posted. I split it off thinking that the car was coming to the US (hence "salvation" - saving BMW from sliding sales figures in the US), which I thought would probably generate enough content for its own thread, but it seems it might still be a few years away.

If I wanted a cheap FWD, I'd rather get a Mazda 3. |

It's actually a good car to drive and is proving popular with younger Chinese customers as that is a segment that also sustains compact sedans a strong well as SUVs. Hence why the A-Klasse Sedan has now appeared testing.
I reckon this car would do extremely well in America. Available in xDrive and a potential M35i xDrive. I a man sure some here would sense the opportunity?

Scott I suppose an M35i will no longer represent an inline6? Sounds like an upgraded transverse 4 cylinder since the normal 2.0 has already been badged 30i.

Agreed, I'm not convinced China market cars will do well here. Outside of the obvious abomination of a mutant FWD BMW, look at the cars that do well there. Case in point, Buick. Immensely popular in China, but can't sell in the US without a boatload of cash on the hood.
