If the wall is built a mile or so away from the boarder where possible, That's a long tunnel to dig, tunneling also makes noise that can be detected and its not the only way drugs get into the country, they carry them in places where there is no barriers. Hell, they use submarines to carry drugs, but I don't know where the drop off point is. The wall or barrier will make it more difficult to enter illegally, period. This has been going on for far too long.

News has been reporting increases in illegal immigration over the last few months. Did it stop on Jan 20th? I doubt it.
Some come from Mexico, some go back. Every report I have read says the overall numbers are close to the same with a small, insignificant drop. I don't see this wall being worth $20 billion dollars for the effect it will have as illegals will still find ways to get here.

Please post the news of illegal immigration increasing in the last few months. Ever since Trump was elected (almost 3 months ago) they have been packing their bags for the U.S.? Interested in reading more about this.

Yes a wall will make it more difficult to come over but so would a lot of things. I don't believe the cost justifies the result and don't want to pay for this wall. Trump says I won't but also has presented no plan for someone else to pay for it or even presented a study that shows the net result that the wall will provide.

He decided the wall is needed, decided we will pay for it, and says we will get paid back later.

Couldn't tell you without googling and my son cut me off after he found out I was really calculating the cost of the wall. He told me to get a life

I don't live in a sanctuary city or state and virtually no one does so let them have what ever problems come with not complying.

I saw the illegal immigration spike on TV news, don't remember which local or cable. The spike came after the election, sound reasonable. At any rate I think we agree that we still have a problem. How we solve it not so much, but I'm certainly open to other ideas. I have heard a swing of numbers on the total of illegals, searching the internet for this will not prove of disprove this point because they are just estimates, no one really know since they don't declare themselves at the border. Lets just say its in the 10s of millions. See I'm reasonable!

Economies in Central, South America and Mexico will vary, times will be good, times will be bad influencing illegal immigration flows. Something like a wall will be a constant impediment to the flow, maybe even a symbol that we have laws and you just can't cross because you don't like your present condition and are not willing to go into the US Embassy or Consulate in your country and apply for a Visa like everyone else (mostly).

Are you sure this is not a I don't like Trump therefore I don't like the wall? Just asking.

Would businessman Trump build a building and tell the buyer, it's okay, you can pay me later? I'm guessing not.

If it's to keep a campaign promise, that makes sense since it a tangible result and as a side benefit, it creates jobs which is another goal. The hard part will be building it with no undocumented workers and no foreign materials.

If it succeeds, we will have a very expensive wall with a slim hope that Mexico will reimburse. If he fails to get the wall built and paid for by Mexico, the headline could read, Trumpty Dumpty.

He is four, so I'll just lift his lego bucket above his reach. That'll show him.

You guys could ask us others to donate you our legos, then you could spend them around the boarder and maybe bomb down all central americas shoe factories. Im sure Denmark uses this method since even giving birth is not as painful as stepping on one.

You saw it on TV and it makes sense that there was a spike in illegal immigration after Trump was elected? Not following the logic.

I don't like the idea of the wall because of it's cost, I have seen nothing that gives a expected result, current plan has us paying for it and hopefully getting reimbursed.

Like any other project I would feel better about it if the money was lined up and someone told me how this would change things for the better. The "it will reduce illegal immigration some amount" isn't enough on a $20 billion project. Why can't he tell us and Mexico how they are going to pay for it and start collecting the money before we start?

If our company considers a $100k machine we would expect all of the above, at $20 billion I expect even more.

If my city decided to start building a giant bridge across the river but hadn't figured out how they were going to pay for it I would also say we shouldn't start it.

Let's see what happens. I don't think Trump is expecting the Mexican government to cut a check before the construction begins. They is more than one way to "pay" for the wall. tariffs ... etc...

I know one thing. Trump knows how to execute a project on time and on budget. I doubt they will be using any $700 hammers from the state department for the construction.

Ok, well then a four year-old, I'm not touching that!

The lego idea is priceless, now who we gona get to pay the shipping costs? Remember we are not paying for the was. Ok you, if you would be so kind, contact the Mexican Embassy in Finland and tell them you have 50 billion legos that need to be shipped to San Diego where is the bag of Mexican money that is gona pay for this?

We do not have enough ordinance to bomb even 10% of the shoe factories in Central America, Now bomb them with carpet remnants with the B 52s, that might get some traction. Can you imagine how painful it is to have a carpet hit you from 30,000 feet er sorry 10,000 meters (almost)!!

You have some really good ideas!!! I'm going to call SAC and ask them to plan it, Hmm, SAC are they still around? Ill probably get a busy sound.

I know one thing. Trump knows how to execute a project on time and on budget. I doubt they will be using any $700 hammers from the state department for the construction.
$700 hammers from the State Department? What the ones Hillary bought with Clinton Foundation money...Not. I think you mean Department of Defense, all those hammers went to Berlin to knock down the wall over there. They did not need the wall anymore since they changed their mind on letting people cross freely.

Right now his plan if for us to pay for it and we will get reimbursed later but I have seen no plan for this happen. He needs to tell us how this reimbursement will happen.

Also, Trump won't be able to be directly involved in this project at the local level and will be relying on government workers to manage it. As good as he probably is he has a million things to do.

If he could really remove a lot of the waste out of government this would be a far greater gain than this wall. I appreciate his efforts in this area and would like him to focus more on this than the number of votes he got or the number of people at the inauguration.

As long as you come up with a good story for our kids, every mother in the world will gladly pay to ship theirs to you for free.

Good point about the shoe factories, this needs some work apparently. Carpet remnants will be wildly protested by environmentalist but they don't usually give a fuck about blowing up a few k people, so I can't recommend that.
