Absolutely incredible... it just landed... 777 being my favorite aircraft this update will surely grace us for many years.

I will say those retractable winglets are super shady lol

I have a lot of family and friends at Boeing and unfortunately that sense of pride has evaporated since the 737 max crisis. Now they jokingly say "if it's a Boeing, I 'aint going."

Since the 737MAX disaster I'm more like "If it's Boeing, I'm not going"
The folding wings are since 1995 into discussion, that'll be very interesting.

I have a dear friend and several less close friends that work there too. This is just a speed bump. They will be ok.

Boring, uninspired aircraft:
It's called "aerodynamics"?

The shape lends itself almost perfectly to commercial aviation, and with increases in computing power, materials fabrication, engine design and technology, anything other than a twinjet is dead.

And, comparing military aircraft? COMPLETELY different breed of cat-- their mission requirements are radically different.

A commercial airliner needs to have good overall handling capabilities, high cruise speed with stability, good low speed approach/handling characteristics (fail on the Max!), fit within the commercial aviation ground/taxi/handling footprint, and most of all, be cost-effective and efficient.

THAT'S why they all look the same-- it's a case of "function" over "form".

R.

My father has been pretty sad about the whole thing. He's seen a culture change over the years and feels jaded. Employee morale is probably at an all time low.

Unfortunately the engineers will have to pay the price for short-sighted decisions made by the losers in the suits. It's pure America.

Are the engines moved more forward on this one like the 737 max to improve efficiency?

I think this a different construction, hence the shape of the engine has changed, they had to re-construct the pylon and the inner thrust link.

Sounds good!

My favorite is still the 757 with the rolls-royce engines. I remember the distinct sound of those screaming overhead while plane spotting as a kid.

Maybe they should put a big BMW/Lexus/Toyota/etc style grill on it. Now that would be cool!

As Long a Boeing does not allow people to fly it who are not as smart as the plane itself I think they will be fine.
