I have a pickup in the UK for dogs and horse stuff and would love a BMW pickup rebadged Toyota or not as long as it had the Germanic wand waved over it. Would save me from ford or VW

I felt like I should have a full load of groceries n kids in the back. To each their own I guess. Maybe I'm not seeing the niche, drop the kids off then chuck it into M mode n rip it up? In that case the 4 door M3 would be my choice. Thoughts?
They're for road juggernauts, big prestigious raised up SUV's but superfast for throwing their weight around. Similar to Landrovers and cayannes.
They are well made cars, have good interior space and cargo capacity but an m5 or m3 wagon would be better in every way.

Except towing a 4,800 lbs camper.

We did a long trip through the UK into France then through Belgium into Germany and back over a long weekend and while an m5 would have been great we did see a lot more in the X5m than we would of in most other things. You do also get a slightly higher vantage point on road situations than other lower vehicles.

It also pushed on to over 140mph on the autobahn without a care in the world and also felt very stable doing so. This speed was due to traffic not the car before anyone thinks I wasn't trying!

An M5 has a towing cap of 2000kg or 4400 lbs, the m3 I can't find anything besides the 2006 model being able to pull the same and 2009 model capped at 1800kg. Not really too far off.

Did not know that. Not a big fan of towing with a sedan, but nice to have the option. Has anyone ever towed 4,800 lbs with an M5?

I sold an X3 M (non competition) last week. There is a limited market on these cars and generally speaking you make better profit on a M car compared to a non M car.

Even if they make new car like the previous one people would pay for that.. It does matter that car has been made in 2020 and that's all people need to know

Does it really matter? Why be so critical of BMWs decision to offer products that people actually buy? The true M versions of the X3 and X5 may not be all that engaging to push around a track, but most people who buy any M car never track their cars anyway. Sure, you're selling on the M name with the SUVs, but it's not like the company put in a 500-600hp engine in a bog standard X3/5. There's still lots of development work on these SUVs to make them feel as close to the M cars as they can.

These argument also extend to brands like Porsche. Why do they need all those SUVs? Who cares? Buy the sports CAR you want from either brand and be happy that you still have the option. I was SUV shopping a year ago and the idea of a new Cayanne came to mind. But I just couldn't have my first Porsche ownership experience be in one of their SUVs. You know what? I bought a SUV from another brand!
