Are there any engine tunes and bolt-on mods/tunes for the USA Z4 M40i?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you. It looks like I need an Android phone to use the MHD tune. I have iPhone. But that stage 1 and stage 2 looks great! Anything like that for iOS?

Bootmod3 has the Stage 1 released at the moment. Need a computer or the wifi client with the iOS app. I just use the computer as it's quick and easy since I don't need to monitor the gauges. I'm running the beta Stage 2 and it's phenomenal. Highly recommend.

I'm running the K&N drop in filter and VRSF catless downpipe for the Supra (both fit exactly the same on the m40i and supra) and have had zero issues. I do need to adjust the downpipe as it isn't sealing all the way at the turbo. I get exhaust fumes sometimes through the air vents if I have it set to fresh air instead of recirculate.

Most of the performance modifications for the Supra will work on the Z4 since the drivetrains are essentially identical. The Supra did use a slightly smaller turbo and fuel pump, but the flange on the turbo is still 5" on both supra and z4.

Awesome, thanks!

Do you have a link for the exact product needed for Bootmod 3? I see one that says Z4 but can't figure out if it's Z4 M40i or not...

It’s both models of z4: https://www.protuningfreaks.com/coll...0i-m140i-m340i

You can also buy it for the same price (sometimes discounted for sales) through other vendors like x-ph who’s a forum vendor

Hard to make out which models specifically they're referring to since it's all jumbled together. Like, the link doesn't say Z4 at all, and then the webstie page says Z4 M240I M140I and M40I is mentioned but only the X3. Very very confusing....

For the folks who have already tuned their cars, isn't anyone worried about voiding the warranty on a brand new car? Don't get me wrong, my previous was an 2011 E89 with Cobb tuning, FMIC, cold air intake, and BMW brake upgrade. But it was already out of warranty.

I read on another thread that if BMW wants to look close at the ECU they can determine it was modified even if a software only mod was un-installed before service. One story on that thread was the owner removed the tune and took his car for a non engine issue but they hooked up the OBD cable anyway and voided his warranty.

Even worse would be voiding the warranty for replacing the downpipes with a high flow catted DP...should have virtually nothing to do with the engine, but BMW has all the power.

Thoughts?

Don’t use that dealer. Always find mod/tune friendly dealers...

I had a tech at my local BMW dealership tell me the same thing.

He said they might not notice initially but if they suspect something they can dig deeper somehow and see if it had ever been modified.

So there's a risk if something goes south they might not have to honor the warranty.

There’s always inherent risk with modifications. I understand that if I throw a rod now that I may be on the hook for a $10k+ short block swap in the car.

Guess it comes down to “are you financially stable enough to handle such an incident?” Or “are you willing to financially devastate yourself/family for the modifications?”

For those curious, BM3 is available now for the Z4 M40i variant in public release OTS maps.
