Nothing really new revealed in this short Story/vid but nice to see the new Vette laying down some rubber. That said, many of us are impatiently waiting for the real world numbers and reviews to start rolling in.

Here's a clip of the C8 on track, Sound is kind of dissapointing sounds almost like BMW or Audi fake engine noise but the car looks hooked up on track, much more stable rear end than the c7 even on average tires

Now that i’m seeing a lot of vids and detailed photos of the C8, i kinda feel like i like the aesthetics of the C7 better. I reserve the right to change my mind later, though.

Which means a C7 Z06 for around $60k would be the most underrated move to make rn

I hate (although I understand) the staggered launch structure of modern cars. I want my c8 z06 next year, not 2-3 years from now.

I know automakers do this to maintain excitement around a given model, but the way I see it is you're either interested in a particular car or not. Adding 25hp, some alcantera and a different 3 letter/number code isn't going to bring me into the fold if I wasn't already looking at a particular market segment.

I just want to play with my new toy dammit

It doesn’t sound that good because he’s seriously short-shifting everywhere. Either he didn’t have the ability to or was told not to spin it past a certain rpm. I’m guessing he didn’t go higher then 4K, likely less.

^ i listened to his podcast today.

basically says the redline on the vette is super low at 6000 rpm... like alot lower than most other mid engine exotics. and that its still a 'corvette' and smells like a chevy equinox inside and isn't near the fit and finish of the 992 carrera they had in the test.

Well looks like Chevrolet is hitting the asphalt running. The C8R will be racing for real this January at the IMSA 24 hr at Daytona. Car looks bad ass even if it’s not all Corvette Racing Yellow like the C5R, C6R and C7R at least they left a splash of the color. I might have to make the trip to Daytona for the debut.
Racing two cars for the first time in a 24 hr endurance race sure is ballsy. Can’t wait to see how they stack up in class.

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Arriving In 2020 With $7500 Premium

Quote:
This is the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, introduced to give the established market of mid-engined, droptop supercars something new to worry about.

The unveiling of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible comes just two-and-a-half months after the premiere of the Coupe and shows that Chevrolet is taking this whole mid-engined business very seriously. Production of the convertible will commence in the first-quarter of 2020 and be sold in both left- and right-hand drive configurations. Prices will start at $7500 more than the entry-level 1LT Stingray coupe.

Chevrolet says the new ‘Vette “was engineered first and foremost as a convertible” meaning it retains the coupe’s tunnel-dominant structure and high-integrity die-cast parts. Perhaps most impressive about the new Corvette Stingray Convertible is its packaging. As the folding hardtop stows seamlessly into the body, the car maintains the coupe’s ability to store two sets of golf clubs in the trunk.

“Our goal from the beginning was to make sure customers didn’t have to sacrifice any functionality, performance or comfort when choosing the hardtop convertible,” Corvette program engineering manager Josh Holder said of the car. “We managed to keep the same design theme as the coupe, as well as the exceptional storage capacity and track capability.”

Users can operate the removable roof at speeds of up to 30 mph and in as little as 16 seconds. The roof system relies on six small electric motors as opposed to hydraulic systems used by Chevrolet in the past. This change is said to increase reliability. There is also a small window directly behind the cabin that can be adjusted with the top up or down while also helping to reduce air re-circulation and wind noise.

Like the coupe, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is powered by a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated LT2 V8 engine delivering 495 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque when equipped with the available performance exhaust. Power is sent through the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

6600rpm.

I hope the 992's fit and finish is better with another $55K of MSRP. It shouldn't be close. lol

I think it's more than just "fit and finish".

That Porsche crest alone is worth like $30K to some.

I like it but wish they made the "no golf clubs edition" that would allow them to shorten up the rear of the car. I don't play golf.

Absolutely. This should be the Longtail version, now make a good looking one. Except for the full diaper with Camaro lights, I like the rest of the design.

It's a space frame construction so the fix roof won't do much for structural torsional rigidity. I actually think the car looks better with the roof off.

Yeah, the removable roof is part of the appeal to me for sure-- without giving up roll protection on track like most verts.
