After searching everywhere, I am unable to confirm whether Active Sound is standard on the 30i or just on the M40. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

I do not have the setting available on my car, so I assume it’s not on the 30i, but, watching lots of YouTube videos of 30i cars, they all seem to have more engine noise, a good engine noise, than I have.

Since my car waited weeks for the RAM, which I believe powers Active Sound, I just want to be sure the right part was installed and installed properly.

I think that it's standard on all of the G29 range of Z4s and you can't switch it off.

You can however get an OBD scanner and connected to Bimmercode that will allow you to switch it off.

Funny, I'm still waiting on mine and it is because the RAM (part VMD06/07) issue. They have the 6 but the work order says 7 and cant get any status. It could very well be the wrong part.

No setting on my 30i and the engine sound only comes out of the tail pipes as far as I can tell. Overall, it's a very quiet car which I love but will let you know there's performance onboard when you accelerate in Sport / Sport+.

Some of the hotrodders around these parts must be deaf (or will be) based on the loudness of their exhaust systems. I can't imagine driving 1,000 miles on the interstates with those things blaring! Each t their own.

As far as I know, all Z4's from the first have had active sound (one reason I was turned off by the original Z4). Heck, even my wife's X3 hybrid has it.

And you do need to do it through bimmercode or similar.

Side Note: I discovered the last update (3/21?) cleared out all of my bimmercode settings and I have to set them again.
