I don't know anyone who likes the cerium trim and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
My X3MC came with the black trim which I didn't care about until I actually saw the cerium trim. Tried talking my girl (who is looking at the Z4) to get the shadow line package but she likes the chrome. I told her that is very 1980s of her |

The cerium mirrors show bugs like nothing you have ever seen before and will gross her out. Search this forum for pics and cleaning tips - she will need them! |

I'd like to say I ordered the M40i BECAUSE of the Cerium bits, but the truth is that was just the icing on the cake; the 6 cyl was mandatory for me.

My issue with the chrome is it feels dated and newer vehicles seem to be going away from it. My truck (Nissan Armada) has a nose full of chrome and chrome bumpers. They looked cool at the time but I guess I like more subdued now. Current models agree.
My big issue with the cerium is it looks like a third color on the car which is out of place and competing with the body color and black trim. Had it been more of a brushed titanium I might have liked it. To each their own though, my opinion is just that but I’ll say if I didn’t have black grills on my X3MC they would have been swapped day one with extreme prejudice! |

I agree with you that the current style has moved away from chrome. Styles come and go. Anyone in the market for the new stylish 4 series? Yuck! I would never buy any new Lexus as I can't stand the snow-plow front-end look (love my 2008 model). Both BMW and Lexus continue to sell that stylish look, but come on man!

Got the parts in but, not having any luck getting the old ones out. Feels like I'm going to break it in 1/2 before those tabs release. Is it supposed to be that tight?

Having said that after being a new BMW driver for 2 years I'd never go back to Lexus. BMW is in a different league. Lexus does have the reliability thing going. |

Hey guys. New on the board so I can’t start a new thread. I just replaced the cerium grille with black. Anybody replace the left & right lower cerium pieces?
Trying to figure out how to get to those. Thanks. |

As I said before, I like the Cerium and , in Canada, I had the choice between black and Cerium on my M40i. If I had a Z4 with the chrome grill, I'd definitely swap for black or Cerium. Since my car is black, black grills made it seem like I lost too much detail....JMHO
