I just use AF for the moon. Point the camera at it, dial in some -EV (-2EV this morning) and shoot away.

This morning, clouds were in front of the moon as it set, but the air was nice and clear. I got a few shots as the clouds came and went. I'll process tonight to see if I ended up with something good.

No AF with the 2x TC, though. Minimum aperture is f11.

So how does that work? Does it keep the camera from knowing the lens is above f8?

Thanks. The air quality was really bad the whole time I was there. You could really smell the smoke in the air.

Attack of the white lenses

Given their relative size, which ones are these, Dave?

I think that the guy on the right has the 400/2.8, then a video guy, then a 600/f4 and the left is either a 400/2.8 or 500mm/f4. I think that's a 70-200mm slung around the neck of the guy on the right and I'm surprised that the two on the left don't have 2d cameras. It's the only way to handle both near and far.

That's what I do and it works very well. I may go a day or two without touching the 70-200mm and then I'll use it for 50-shots in a row. (I keep my 24-105mm in a vest pocket.

Dave

the guy with the blue taped hood has the camera body mounted upside down. Any rhyme or reason to this?

No idea.

I was also wondering why his LCD is on. (He probably wonders why the other guys don't go through batteries like him).

His LCD was on the entire game. He was also the only one with the upside down mounted camera.

That works well. How large is your crop?

Thanks, Dave. ~15% cropped out horizontally, and 36% vertically.
