I noticed yours came with the Conti SportContact 6 tires, will be curious to read your impression of them. FWIW, here's what TireRack has to say about them compared to the Michelins: TireRack Michelin Pilot SS & Conti SportContact 6 Comparison |

April Shipping Schedules
For those of us waiting at the port, I did some digging through RoRo schedules. Here's what I found for April departures from Bremerhaven (the yellow highlight arrives at Savannah instead of Brunswick) Note: There may be other ships as well. These are the ones I found going to the USA:

That's great info, my order just got a VIN, and the status changed to "Production begins" which should only take a week or two. Does that mean there is a possibility to get the car on the ship before the end of April??? That would be a appreciated surprise :-)

Right now, 3+ weeks at the port is not unusual. That may change, but it's not likely in one month to significantly reduce the backlog. I've been at the port for a week now and I'll be happy if it gets on the ship this month.

It would be an interesting job to load all those cars onto a ship like that, would love to see it in action.

I am set for my PCD delivery on April 17th in case anyone is taking delivery too. It will be a fun two week trip back to Seattle. I am planning to do the Tail of the Dragon -> Destin FL -> New Orleans -> Santa Fe -> Millon Dollar Highway -> Grand Junction -> Seattle. I can’t wait! I am super excited!

And Thalatta is off! I read it takes a day or two to update status in My Garage once the ship leaves the port, so hopefully some of us flip by Thursday.

We can hope. If not, there's one next Tuesday. And if it doesn't catch that one, there's a fleet of 6 sailing from the 15th to the 17th. Hopefully, that will clear out the backlog.

I’ve used my best detective skills to narrow down my carrier vessel. I believe that I’m on the “morning Charlotte”. I don’t want to call and find out for sure because that would ruin the fun for me. If I’m correct, then I’m heading out of the English Channel as we speak. |

Z4 to California
I just found this forum and I am so glad! We have been trying to obtain status info from our local BMW dealership to no avail. We were told that we would see our Z4 mid to maybe late April. Using all of the tips that I have found on here, I now see that our car sat at the port for quite a while and may (fingers crossed) currently be on a ship to California. All of that being said, it looks like it may arrive on May 1 in California and then will make the trek here to Arizona. Not what we expected, but it's not too bad and at least I have some info. Thanks so much for everyone's tips and tricks! We can now get excited about the car's arrival!

Hope you enjoy your new Z4 when you get it. Waiting is hard. Your patience will be rewarded.

Two caveats 1) it's been a while since I've been on Michelins. Prior three cars were on P zeros (including recently the M3 with x drive), so difficult to do a direct comparison with the Michelins. 2) My wife gets motion sickness if I push too hard in the twisties, so not sure at the limit about these tires' performance. That being said, I'm pleasantly surprised with the Conti's. They're super quiet at any speed, comfortable, and have decent steering feel and grip. I've always thought Michelin's are better in the wet, Pirelli's aren't bad either - I'd rank them both higher than the Conti's. I've never been a huge fan of P zeros mainly because of how quickly they wear out. I'd probably just stick with these in the future. |
