screen protector?
I did a search but couldn't find anything. Has anyone installed a screen protector on the touch screen? I'm wondering if a tablet or laptop screen protector could be cut and installed.....just trying to avoid scratches, etc. I still have the temporary plastic on it for now, but it's already lifting on the edges.
Cheers, Dave |

How do you think it is going to get scratched? I never touch the screen in my M3. I just use the iDrive knob.

I think it will be just a matter of time before a tempered glass screen protector is available, as with other models. Takes a bit of time for third party accessory manufacturers to release products for new models.

It's a 'vert; the inside gets dusty, the screen gets wiped = scratches.....and that's without the added mess of a touch screen.
a tempered glass screen protector sounds like just the thing. If I put a protector on on my $400 phone, putting it on a screen that probably cost $3,000 or more makes sense to me. Dave |

Just saying, in all my years I have never heard of anyone doing this. If it were a common thing, there would be products already on the market for it.

I've never heard of a screen protector for a car before but if there was a hardened glass protector available for the G29 I would fit one. A lot of dust gets attracted to the screen with the top open so I think this would be a worth while addition to my car

Search the X5 G05 board. There's a number of posts about it. The G05 has the same screen/dash.

Cheers, Dave On edit: I thought our screen was 10.2"? ...this one says 12.3" I'm also going to take a better look at the shape when I get home to see if it generally looks right. Thanks again. Last edited by DPelletier; 06-21-2019 at 09:59 AM.. |

Well, my apologies. I had no idea these things existed. Sorry for mucking up the thread.

Putting a tempered glass protector on her Nintendo Switch probably saved it's poor life. Now I fear I may get one out of an over exaggerated sense of concern. |

I always bought them on amazon for the older in-dash idrive displays which were really prone to nasty scratching during cleaning. They were advertised as glare proof but at certain sun angles with sunroof open it was impossible to see anything on the screen. However, I never needed them on the newer floating screen displays as they have much harder and more resilient covers. I haven't seen any scratches in 4 years of F30 ((no touchscreen) ownership. I would assume they made the covers for the touchscreen displays even harder.

I think the main screen is 12.3" and the centre secondary screen is 10.2"

Well I could tell you I didn't but I'd be lying. The total price in Canadian dollars including all applicable taxes and fees was just over $98k.....which I felt was a bargain compared to the Porsche 718 Boxster S which was going to be $133,000 with a few less options.
