So, right now you can order a Model 3 on line and delivery on the West Coast is 4 weeks, which is about normal for any car company if you special order a car. I special ordered my 325i in April 2006 and it was delivered 6 weeks later in May. So the 400,000 pre-orders was some sort of a myth or a lot of pre-orders were cancelled. As of last month, only 80,000 or so Model 3 since production started.

But unlike any other normal car you can just walk in with your wad of cash and buy one from the dealer lot

One would expect that with 400,000 pre-orders to fill, there'd be a 1.5 to 2-year wait for ordering one and receiving it.

That's only if you're bad at manufacturing
I'm sure Toyota can make that in a few months

Isn't there a Toyota factory in Cali? Maybe Elon should inquire.

I think it looks terrible and most Tesla drivers are insufferable. Can’t wait for the company to fail.

I spotted 4 Tesla’s during my 12 mile trip to a doctor appointment earlier this week. Most of the drive was on a back country, 2-lane road. That count was one way only. Didn’t bother counting on way home.

Then there are the Toyota Previous, I mean Prius. Too many to count...

Heh, yah!

Meanwhile, one of my former co-workers has been driving a Prius for years and he loves it; not because it might be green, but because he has a very long commute to work. He claims 46 MPG. Saves a fair amount of money each year.

Ya. I get the fuel savings angle but I just couldn't do that (Prius) to myself on a daily basis. That thing is terrible. I would rather pay out of my ass for fuel and enjoy the drive/car even if it's sitting in traffic.

On another note. Our leases are up soon and I asked my wife if she wants to go electric for her next car. The response and I quote "FUCK NO"

Actually, California's relatively low reliance of coal and increasing hydroelectric and non-hydroelectric renewables for it's electricity makes driving electric in California much more beneficial to the environment than states that depend on coal, like Wyoming.

https://www.eia.gov/state/?sid=CA#tabs-4

So while we aren't exactly saving the Earth, at least we're trying to have slightly cleaner air.

I love how the doomsday clock resets so fast. Quick to kick them while they're down, but one wonders why we need to kick at all. Why not short and take advantage? I have no horse in this race, I bought at $245 and sold at $300 as it tumbled. It's since recovered and fell and recovered about a dozen times since. Not once did I cheer when it fell when I didn't short. It's a bit cynical to do so if you ask me.

I was just being a wise ass.

I still think slightly is the key word in your post though.

I have no crystal ball regarding Tesla’s long-term success, but my worthless gut feeling is that they will prevail.

Remember the Lindberg story? Even some of his financial backers questioned the wisdom (dangers) of attempting to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Lindbergh’s response? We must keep trying until we succeed.

He was right.

Meanwhile, I continue my long-time passion of building and flying all types of radio control aircraft. I have witnessed huge advances in RC technology including electric motors and batteries. The technology is now so good (reliable and powerful) that all of the aircraft I build are electric, plus I have converted all of my old nitro fuel airplanes to electric power. One of my favorites is an electric ducted fan jet that easily exceeds 100 MPH in level flight. Smooth, quiet, no mess.

I agree. I think they will ultimately succeed.

On a more important topic...post a few pics of your aircraft! I've always been interested but never took the plunge. What's the best way to get started? Feel free to take this to PM.

i do not short and i do not trade on margin. when shorting you have limited upside but unlimited downside and that is not a ratio i want to trade on. secondly i have been saying for almost two years that this stock is propped up by algos and you can channel trade it from 260-350 several times but more important is the fact that i have no interest in the company, i dont like the product nor the management. same with fb. i have similar feelings on fb. i don't care if it doubles or troubles; i would never put one dime into that company. money is not the only factor when it comes to my life so simply because there are opportunities to make money i take the entire scenario into consideration and what it is that i am investing in and with whom. if i do not like what i see or who i see i do not participate. lastly, there are far better companies to throw your money into without as much headline risk or without a person like musk at the helm and associated with the brand.

Yeah, but there is a bit of truth behind every joke.
A slight improvement is still relatively better than drastic deterioration.

What category of aircraft are you interested in? I pretty much do them all: Airplanes, helicopters, drones (FPV racing), gliders. Airplane sub-category includes jets, aerobatics, basic trainers and scale. My latest scale airplane is a P-51D Mustang.

If you're interested in airplanes, I'd suggest a basic high-wing trainer with built-in stability features (gyros):
