Yes indeed.

Something so good I might give up my M2.for.

I like the look of this car, and Autocar's review is very +ve. Steve Sutcliffe usually know what he's talking about. I cant afford a decently spec'd 6 cyl Porsche, so after the new Z4 has been around for a while, and the discounts start, a replacement for my 440i GC in three years time - by which stage, I won't need 4 seats anyway
Hopefully, there will be an MPPSK available for it too?

Yep, still enjoying mine... Paid $7.5k 3 years ago for a solid, fun, raw, wind in your hair roadster experience. Couldn’t be more pleased with myself.

Maybe I’ll be interested in the new one after the first 2 owners take the depreciation sting away...
I hear you, brother. My E85 cost about the same, and I absolutely love driving it. I can't believe I was able to get so much car for less than $10k. Buying used is the way to go with these cars if you really want to feel their value!

He did say that there will be an M "badged" Z4, but he was the only one who mentioned that, which is weird, since I guess all journalists watched the same presentation. And obviously every one would be talking about it if true, despite all the rumors saying otherwise.

I guess it could come down as to how good sales are, and I'm sure they know what they would do in the case of a Z4 M, but I'm pretty sure there's none planned right now.

He also might have misinterpreted what they said. He never mentions this car as the M40i, which is what it is, instead he always refers to it as 40i. But then it wouldn't make sense on the transmission comment.

And when he says that it will start at under 40k, he is clearly referring to the cheapest version, even though in the context he was on, was implying that this particular version (M40i), would start at that. So there are a few things that could be misunderstood by who is watching.

Coming out of my M235i vert, I'm very excited about the new Z4. My short list for a replacement a few years down the road are M440i / M4 vert if the G Series replaces the hard top with a soft top, 982 Boxster S, Jag F Type vert and now also the new Z4. Think I'll be following this Z4 forum now too.

How are you sure a 718 will "sweep the floor with"?

One thing is for sure it doesnt sound like complete ass, like the 718.
It's 300 pounds lighter, has a better weight balance, is a chassis that's been refined for 20 years now, has the best dual clutch in the market and it makes more power than the B58. Is there a way it won't be significantly quicker?

Yeah, it doesn't sound great. But if that's what we're basing wins on now, what does that mean for the S55?
How can you be so negative about it when the reviews are so positive? More power an gobs more torque than a standard 718 seems pretty good to me.

If you ask me, both have their advantages. So you'd pick a boxter...good for you

Hmm twin turbo engine. Interesting. Could this be the first iteration of what might become the S58?

Are they being positive because it's good overall or just that it's better than the E89? That's a huge caveat to me at this point.

I'll wait to see. I do prefer my cars lighter over more powerful and heavier. I had a Z3 M Coupe for fourteen years. I resisted the Z4 and the Cayman to keep what was a comparably light and enjoyable car that always felt more involving and challenging than the others, even if lap times weren't really it's strongest thing.

The basic Boxster has always felt a little too balanced and controlled for my taste. I'd love a Spyder (or adding a roof) a GT4 though.

I just suspect that a 385hp Z4 will not be able to keep pace with a 350hp 718 S, and that's assuming the Z4 will have an actual LSD and that Porsche doesn't at least make the current GTS 365hp rating standard for the S before the Z4 arrives.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Save for a few models BMWs have been very disappointing to drive since the last Z4 (E89). That model spearheaded the "numb" era of BMW. We are going on a solid 9 yrs of BMW disappointing us with every new model.

Some recent cars have gotten good reviews so I am hopeful. But BMW really needs to go head on with the Boxster here. No much bullsh*tting around with lazy Sunday cruisers like the E89.

I'm excited for the upcoming slew of BMWs. They will show us if we enthusiasts still matter to the brand or if they are going to continue with the lazy driving dynamics of the entire 2010s.

There will probably be a new Boxster in 3-4 yrs too, just as this is hitting the market...

The pricing is confusing here probably because they are testing the M40i but mean the lowest models when they mention cost. Any reason to think this new model will be priced any differently than the current model (2016 that is)?

I'm really excited for this car, but also heartbroken that there won't be a hardtop version of some kind.

I really am not interested in getting a Toyota, as much as I like and respect the Supra...

I don't know if this is true or not, but this is what an insider has recently said regarding the Supra.

I'd trust him a lot more than me. I'll just be curious to see how Toyota lost nearly 300 pounds while adding a lot of glass, the mechanism for a hatch and possibly an LSD (still unsure if the Z4 has one.)

He said the car has a carbon fiber roof and is more bare-bones vs the Z4.

Also Autobild is reporting a different weight for the Z4. If true, weight differences would be 235lbs.

Although the handling of the 1490-kilogram (3285-lbs) Z4 is addictive...
