Most of the reviews I have read (certainly about the driving characteristics) have been positive, so I cannot comment on your overall concerns. Certain people are upset about the lack of DCT, sure. As a manual driver (I am 37 and my M3 CS is my first non-6MT car....and my last if I can help it), I am not directly affected.

The mere fact that they are continuing to offer a manual in this segment at all, to me at least, shows they are staying true to the core DNA of the M3. It is upsetting that I do not have the option to get the comp pack AND a 6MT (in any drive train configuration) BUT I have been in the manufacturing industry my entire adult life and I am acutely aware of the inefficiencies of offering too many options to be produced in one facility (not to say anything of the cost to test and develop these options).

The digital gauge seems to bother many, but these seem to be the same people who were irate when BMW changed the moniker of the 2 door to the "M4" and swore they would be buying "M3" badges for their M4 as "purists."

I think the car looks great. Based on a poll, 1 in 3 here agree with me. BUT, none of us have even see the actual car revealed! I mean, this is insane that we are continuing to have a discussion about a car yet to be revealed! Leaked images in sh*t lighting do nothing to further BMW's cause here.
Yes. We certainly have to see this in the metal and in real-world and normal lighting conditions where light reflects properly without distortion.

I imagine some angles might improve, especially with certain color schemes (blacked out trims, etc). Not so sure about the full frontal though.

I will admit, I wasn't a fan of the F8x when they came out and told myself to never buy one since I had an E9x. Now I love the F8x and ended up buying one. Might be the same with the G8x. I don't like it right now, but I might change my mind after seeing it on the road and in person.

I'm betting the LCI that rolls around in a couple of years will ditch the pig nose due to poor sales.

Doubtful. They did it for a reason and I think it's here to stay (love it or hate it).

Awful, long live the F80/82/83!

That G8X is the worst piece of trash I've ever seen come out of BMW. What an embarrassment.

The only hope we have is an aftermarket company to come along and mold a beautiful front bumper ala M8. Of course, I'd have concerns with the vehicle warranty so I'd have to know about that prior to purchasing both the car and the bumper.

Now about those rip off Lexus tail lights......

Ok enough with the teaser bullshit Ferrari's get less hype. The thing gets unveiled in September but when the hell are deliveries? By the way the M340i feels bigger than a cruise ship hopefully this thing somehow magically "feels" smaller. I love manuals but not in something this massive. When is delivery?

I think start of production is November for the RWD version so first delivery in early 2021 (probably January/February).

If the M340i feels like a cruise ship, then next M3/M4 likely will as well.

The point I probably failed to make is that M3 is no longer BMWs benchmark and "bread & butter" car that pays the bills, so they are less concerned about the success of that model and (the same holds true for the 911).

They have bigger distractions (like Tesla) and the performance SUV segment so they can take risks that they could not before. If they screw it up, no big deal, they'll just fix it on the next LCI (or not).
It never was!

Renders are [nearly] spot on for a reason. You guys should've figured this out in 2006. It's REALLY funny to read posts proclaiming the render was off and there was zero chance the car would look like the renders.

It will sell because its a BMW(rarely do BMW customers retreat from the brand, they identify with it regardless of design details) and it will perform. The car is still ugly.

I've heard that about a BMW a time or three. One of them was even labeled "not a real M car." Then one day everybody suddenly loved it and started circle jerking it. It became a "real" M car and people said it looked great. It was one of the only BMW's to ever appreciate in value on the used market, often selling for more than it's bargain basement MSRP. Funny how that happened.

Agreed with this. Other companies have rushed cosmetic changes to market quickly before.

What is that thing in the right butt cheek? The grill is interrupted there like a big sensor is in place or something.

(I call the new grills "butt cheeks" as it looks like the new grill is the head of design mooning everybody...)
