Picked up my new to me Z yesterday! She's a 22 with 2.5k miles. First convertible since my new '99 M Roadster.

Many thanks to Rothard31 and BEAR for their input on the Z vs my other option (M4 cv).

I came very close on the M4 but glad i went with the Z for sure. For me the M was just too much of a race car with much of the fun happening too far into the go-to-jail part of the speedo...

She's about a mirror image of Horseman's and while i really like both white Zs and the red interior separately, i wasn't a big fan of the white/red combo but it's growing on me quickly. Reminds me a bit of a mullet, business on the outside and party on the inside....

For those that think the HK is not that great, I actually think its pretty darn good once you tweak the EQ.

With respect to the ride quality, it can be really nice on decent roads, but on broken pavement in any setting, watch out. I picked her up in Tulsa and am halfway back to ATL and man are there some rough roads in OK and around little Rock.

Looking forward to many top down runs on the curvy roads in north GA and NC/TN.

Congrats!! Hopefully we’ll see you out there. Consider joining the bmwcca and sub group for z. There’s a couple GA FB groups too associated with the CCA that organize events. Love the color combo btw - Porsche perimeter has a white on red spyder for sale at 140k- same color combo but you could get almost 3 z’s for that price. And I like the Z better, personally.

Regarding the HK sound system, I hope that you tweaked it while driving with the top down. Also download some lossless audio to your phone and the sound will be even better than simply playing the radio.

Congratulations, you chose wisely. I am sure you will enjoy the Z as much as I have. Since you have a 22 try running in Adaptive mode. Works pretty good if you have a lot of transitions from good to bad pavement. To get the best out of it you need the navigation running because it's looking for GPS info

I have a quick question regarding adaptive driving mode. I know it syncs with the GPS, do you have to enter a destination in the BMW GPS or just simply have it open on your screen?

Spring finally arrived in the UK, so I went off to explore some new roads. I found a very quiet B-road where I had no other traffic in my way for miles. Great fun !

For the Z4 reading BMW's words it just says linked to the GPS system. the GPS has to be always on as it also controls your speedometer & car location for the crash notification.

What is misleading is that it also looks ahead to prepare for automatic changes in the surface, hills etc. Does it use Nav or the distance it normally scans

Don't believe it needs nav with destination live on the center screen because the map that shows up on the speed screen is live as to my location.

My use in general is:

Trip with destination

Nav with destination on the HUD
Waze without destination on the wide screen for traps
Audio song/artist on the right side of the speedo screen.

Local or nonspecific locations:

I use individual which is mostly an acceleration package of a sport+ collection

Around 0645 Saturday morning. Lighting at night and as the sun was coming up made for a few really good photos.
