z4 customization - first modifications
Thanks God, our Z4 has arrived.
EU spec with OPF. Saphire Black Metallic with Vernasca Cognac leather interior. Modifications as of today: 1, Painting some exterior elements (7 pcs) and interior elements (3 pcs) to color Rodhonite Silver Metallic (color code: X17) with semi-gloss clear coat on the top of it . I think that Rodhonite Silver Metallic is a good choice to compensate Saphir Black Metallic at exterior and good choice to change high-gloss black painted elements interior as well. Semmi-gloss clear coated interior elements are much usega proof than high-gloss black as semmi-gloss clear coat has much better sratch and fingerprint resistance. Parts will be fitted to car on Monday. 2, Metal multifunction steering wheel buttons, retrofitted from a Gxx 3 series. |

I didn't think about painting the grill rather than replacing with black part... I may do that (I have a red car and really dislike the cerium grey bits)

Cerium grey does not look good and hard to keep clean. Tomorrow i may have photos of the car with the fitted and custom painted parts. |

The lip inside the top of the grills should be black like the original. Looks bad the way it is.

It's your car; you like it; that's what counts.

I really like the way the interior trim pieces turned out. The standard gloss black plastic parts look incredibly cheap to my eyes. Nice upgrade!

Car is at the cosmetics shop. Will have some cleaning/polish and protection foil on selected parts of the car.

How on earth did you get the little fin bits off on the front?
Ive been trying to get them out for an hour, using the same tools & techniques as Ive used for the grills in the past. I had ordered a set of black ones when I ordered the black grills and body color mirror caps, but they sent the wrong part (I guess theres a lower trim version of them that doesnt have the extra plastic pieces that sits on the inside of the sensor). Anyway, finally got the right ones, but its definitely kicking my ass. |

Hi SgtGiggleBox or CSL335i
Do you have an suggestions on how to remove the front "fins" from the bumper cover? I got the grills off but snapped a couple of tabs, but since I'm replacing them, it's not a big deal. I'd like to remove the fins with no damage. Thanks, Jeff
