My Z4 has arrived...

Shipping was a pain but she finally arrived...a forgotten but new '22 sitting on a dealer lot. I was going to order but decided the loss of adaptive button on the '23 and it should be relatively easy to swap out the piano black center console...otherwise as I would have spec'd it. (It did have the winter tire package but rectified that this morning...)

Very nice. Congratulations! I really like those wheels. Assuming those are the winters?

Winter are the OEM BMW 18” Black with Conti-Ice…car came out of BMW of Loveland (Denver area). These wheels are Forged One FF07 with Michelin. I was going to get 799M OEM and happened across those and like the late 90s 666M throwback vibe…not chrome like many of those but also not murdered out black. 19” size is as spec’s on 799M…

That's interesting. I didn't realize winter tires were an available option from the factory.

Wonder if they were a dealer-installed accessory? I need to get a set, but I'm hoping by the time my car gets here I won't have to worry about it until the fall. I'd rather not have to swap them for a few weeks to have to just swap back.

Congrats on your new arrival!!!

I use the adaptive drive mode 90% of the time so I totally understand why you wanted this feature.

Out of curiosity, what is the reason why you want to change the black high gloss center console?

My OCD wouldn't allow me to live with the gloss black (I ordered Aluminum Tetragon). I like the look of it, but the dust/fingerprints drive me nuts

I had the shop that did my PPF also put it on the center console. You will always see a little dust but the fingerprints are not as noticeable and the PPF protects the high gloss finish against scratches.

Those wheels are really sweet. I've never mustered up enough courage to spend the cash on replacing wheels, but that's kinda tempting.

In my head, those wheels were free as I had to buy a set of summer tires...my wallet disagrees but I knew I would have to buy one set or the other.

Wait, you didn't get two sets of wheels? The only option from the factory is summer performance tires, so I would have assumed you got those and then the winters as an additional add on. Is this not the case?

Dust, fingerprints and scratches...nothing that I can't mitigate with a well placed buffing cloth - come to think of it, maybe that is what the door pocket was designed for!

Honestly, I don't hate it but I would have spec'd one of the others if I ordered - which is the question although I leaned toward tetra effect. (Of course my concern there is if it is really 3d and not look, will it be hard to clean.). These are all first world issues I know...

As previously mentioned just put some PPF on the center console or you will start to see micro scratches no matter how careful you are.

It's not really 3D. I had it in my previous car. Very easy to clean, though it never really shows dust/fingerprints anyway.

The car came with 18" Conti winter tires in the non-stagger config...they are not sitting in front of me but I think 255/40 18 all around. The wheels above are the summer setup.

I may be mistaken about "factory" offering but you can definitely order BMW 798M wheels in the above spec from your dealer... It would have been a hell of a lot cheaper if the car had come with the summer wheels/tires and I purchased a winter set but I do love the look of FF07 wheels. Ask me later how much I love them later when I am scrubbing brake dust off of them... Side note...two sets of wheels does give a great opportunity to detail wheels inside/out once a year :-)

Hmm, no idea. I've never seen the winters as an option. The configurator only has summer staggered as choices, in both 18 and 19 inch sizes.

Congratulations on your car!

I have the gloss black trim and it does get dusty and show fingerprints. But if you're disciplined about giving it a quick wipe with a microfiber towel when you get out of the car, it's a non-issue. I put a little car wax on my trim, so to it's easier to wipe.
