Not a deal breaker. My Audi is exclusively touch and I rarely use it while I'm driving. I find it distracting and even dangerous to reach over. I use voice where applicable. I do like to use touch while parked though. My MB, on the other hand, is not touch. I find it less distracting while driving to use the controller, as an eye glance is much easier than directing my index finger to a spot on the screen. I'm glad BMW hasn't removed the climate switches. Muscle memory will take care of that.

I find the screen is too far away to touch safely while driving (I must reach), obviously a bad idea while driving so I don't use it much. Plus the screen smudges easily and looks bad even with a few fingerprints.

That said, if you really want it, I don't think $500 is enough compensation (the whole being more than the sum of the parts argument), but at the same time, what else is BMW going to do ...as long as they communicate to you that it's not included then that's at least being honest.

Will do however Nothing is perferct though,Theres no touchscreen funtionality and due to that they have delete backup assistant(As result of the shortages)I got all the options available for the 2022 year model ,By the way did you option your z4 with parking assistant package that includes backup assistant? I dont understand how they delete backup assistant if i belive the Z4 m40i does not even offers that feature of backup assistant in particular for the USA market,Cant find that out for sure.

My 21 Z4M40 has the executive package. In all honesty, never used the backup assistant and the touch screen is unsafe to use while driving. For the latter, the control knob is way easier.

As long as you have the backup camera with lines on screen, you will be good. That is definitely needed with the top up.

Agreed,Do you have the feauture thats replicates the last 160ft driven forward but in reverse before set to park? Not talking about parallel parking assist or so but the last 160 ft feature mentioned,Thanks for helping me my friend.I am still wondering if our z4 generation comes with that specific feature for sure as part of parking assistant package.

That feature is listed in the Z4 owners manual though I haven't tried it.

I just got word my Z4 will not have the touch screen. For those of you that have had this happen, what has the dealer done to make this right? Any other incentives besides the measly $500.
I seen this coming but I'm still pissed, and seriously considering going elsewhere

This has been such a bizarre situation. My dealer told me that the touchscreen issue only affected the X models and not the Z4. And she also told me that they have received the "fix" for the X models so that they can fix the touchscreens in the X models.

Something is fishy. It's almost like there is a disconnect between BMW and the dealers. Some dealers seem to say that they can fix the touchscreen on location, while other dealers don't seem to even be aware of that as an option.

I wonder if some dealers are just not wanting to deal with it and it's easier to just blame BMW, while BMW is actually making the fix available to the dealers who are interested.

The only "official" statement I've seen that touchscreens won't be offered on the Z4 was from a dealer...not BMW. And if you go to the BMW website and build a Z4, touchscreen is still an option.

Apparently bmw will now have touch screen. Just the ones produced over the last 3 or 4 weeks will not have it.
I am having another one ordered.

Can you imagine the stupidity that they can't hold your car for 3 weeks to add it but then get them stuck at the port waiting for ram module....
