Thanks. I have been keeping my eye on the other threads dealing with tracking. I was able to track my 435i from the time it left Germany, across the pond and through the Panama Canal. Even got a picture of the ship going through the canal. I don't really recall the details of how I was able to do that, but I think I have an ID on the web site which allowed me to track the ship across the Atlantic.

My SA did say that production has started, so that helps with some of my OCD.
I did this same exact thing with my F10 M5. Once I had the name of the ship I contacted the Panama Canal to find out when it would be passing through. Then I was able to watch it on their web cams. It was a long time ago and unfortunately I don't remember how I gathered the information beyond the ship name. Honestly, I was flat out surprised when the Panama Canal folks responded to my email to let me know the ship's schedule. Lol

I used marinetraffic.com to watch the ship as it crossed the Atlantic and then, after some googling I found some online cameras which cover the Panama Canal. I was lucky enough to still have a link to the Marine Traffic site, but I'll need to do some googling again to find the cameras.

Yeah, I have the Marine Traffic app. I remember when I got it I figured I'd only use it once. Tracked a few cars with that app and always enjoy it.

I seem to be stuck in Quality Check. Today is the third day. I would have thought it would take a day at most. Anyone else have a time line for their car being in Quality Check?

Another thing you can do is call the Genius line (Phone number at the bottom):

Thanks for the links. Looks like my wait is a bit longer than those in the links. Guess everyone's wait is different.

This was my timeline. It looks like I sailed through quality check. Having done the factory tour in Spartanburg I got to see first hand that if there are any issues in assembly they take care of them, so being delayed could simply mean they identified something that they are addressing.

3/18 - Negotiation complete and deposit placed at dealership. Impatiently waiting on a build allocation.
3/25 - Build allocation assigned. Order Received and tracking in MyBMW. I was told I had a build slot for week 18 (first week in May).
4/16 - Production Begins - I was shocked to see the build started 3 weeks early
4/22 - Exterior assembly begins
4/23 - In Paint Booth
4/26 - Entering Assembly Line
4/27 - Quality Check
4/27 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment
5/4 - Dispatched from Factory
5/5 - At the Port
5/10 - In Transit
5/30 - Estimated arrival at Port Charleston
6/1 - Actual arrival at Port Charleston
6/15 - Car Purchase
6/29 - Delivered - Freaking Amazing!

3 months and 12 days or 104 days deposit to pickup at the Spartanburg, SC PDC

Yes, everyone's will be slightly different, but each can be used as a reference point, for sure. If you have any concerns, as I said, call the Genius line. I called them several times to get a status on my build. Even when I thought it was sitting in one status for too long. THey are good folks.

I was wondering about that too and now I want to know if they did find something and, if so, what was it.

I do expect that if they did find anything, they will take care of it, but I would still like to know.

Speaking from the RAM experience, they will definitely take care of it.

I saw your thread on that. You really kept your cool.

Hope I can do the same if they are fixing something and it takes a while.

Thanks. After raising two girls, it wasn't hard. I will say I had a couple of good vent sessions though.

(This was posted in another thread, but re-posting it here to keep this thread up to date.)

I just got off of the phone with the Genius Hotline. They didn't have any more information about why my Z4 is stuck in Quality Check (been there a week now). They did say that it was unlikely that it was because of missing parts (chip?) and that it could just be a delay in updating the status (hard to believe no updates for a week!). They did indicate that my SA may be able to get more info (seems unlikely to me, but who knows). I did send an email to my SA. Dealer is closed on Sunday and Monday, so I won't hear back from her until tomorrow.

Update while writing this post - I did get a reply from my SA (on her day off) and she said she would try to find out what was going on tomorrow. What a great SA!

My SA just let me know that they are unable to find anything which would indicate there has been a delay in my build. If that is the case, then my car should be at the port waiting to be loaded onto a ship. I have asked my SA to see if they can find out which ship it is expected to take across the pond. If I can get a ship name it should confirm all of my current assumptions.

Bad news -

When I called the Genius Hotline they just told me what was displayed on the portal. This morning I sent them an email and this is what they said.

"Your 2022 BMW Z4 M40i began production August 18, 2021 and finished assembly/quality check September 6, 2021. It was estimated to be produced September 7, 2021, but has not yet marked as such in our system. Once it ships, new estimated dates and vessel information will be generated."

No information about why it has not been marked as completed in the build process.

TAZ007 is this the same issues you encountered?

As TAZ007 will tell you, the good news is that eventually your car will be delivered, and it will have been worth the wait. My total order to delivery time was 104 days and the last few weeks of waiting were the worst. Based on input from this forum, estimated delivery dates are like EPA MPG. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks Trader! I know it will get here eventually. I would just like to know what is going on with it. And I'm frustrated with BMW's/the plant's lack of proper communications.

I'm not sure to feel honored or the opposite.

But then again, mine took 111 days.

Nope, mine was waiting on the Radio Audio Module. It showed in Houston, at the vehicle delivery center, as a stop sale. Had to get SA involved to determine the specifics. All I can say is enjoy your masters degree in patience.
