Mine goes to sleep for six months every year; I wouldn't dream of driving it year round here - that would be abuse....and borderline unsafe. Winter drivers are my Ram diesel 4x4 and the wife's Audi SQ8 with Michelin X-Ice's. I do wash the car and put it on a maintenance charger....that's it.

sleep just briefly

Drive everyday except when its snows. Which is rare over the past couple of years. And when it does, its gone in a week. Are Michigan winters that bad that there is no window to drive it?

It just depends on the winter. Two years ago we had snow cover late December through almost all of Feb. Last winter just Jan and Feb. Bottom line is I have no NEED to drive it with the X3 as our second car and both being retired. Great looking man cave you have!

Well I'm only semi-retired. I'm a Professor and still have a 15 minute drive to campus 2-3 times a week. My wife is retired and drives an X-3 hybrid (she bought it right after seeing my G29). So I get to steal the X-3 when it snows.

Snows and wheels are cheaper than buying, maintaining and insuring another car. She's washed, waxed and snows installed, all ready for a Long Island winter!

LD, how about a winter driving review with your setup?

You're setup way better than I could ever be for having more than 1 vehicle. I wouldn't drive anything 2WD here in Saskatchewan during the winter. And no more 'all season' tires either because those just aren't good enough.

I looked around A LOT for a rental with double garage and just could not find anything decently affordable. If I could, I'd most likely still have my Z4. I feel sick knowing someone else drives/owns it.

Yeah, sorry you had to sell yours. My truck was recently in the shop and I had a 2wd loner......it snowed and I had to take three runs at the hill out of my driveway. I won't drive anything other than 4wd or AWD with good winter snow tires on it in the winter here.
