Moonlight blk vs standard blk soft top

Does anyone have the moonlight black soft top? If so, are you happy with your choice in comparison to the standard black soft top?

I’m building a 2022 Z4 M40i the exterior paint is alpine white.

I have it on this Z4 and on my previous M235. I think it looks better, especially with the darker colors like mineral grey metallic and frozen grey metallic.

Whenever I finally get mine I will give my opinion. I would love to take a road trip to the port to see if I can at least see it in person while it waits for a receiver audio module. But I am sure you wouldn’t be able to just go driving around looking for your car.

Unless you got your TWIC card, access you will not get.

I am really pleased with the way the standard black top complements the Shadowline package on my Misano Blue car. That being said, I am sure that the Moonlight top would look beautiful on a white Z4.

Have it on the Mineral Gray 135is & ordered (at Brunswick VPC) Dravit Gray M4C. Have standard black on the Sapphire Black Z4 M40i .

IMHO moonlight is a better top

I think standard top best relates to shadowline trim, black wheels & tires because it is blacker. Optional top can be more interesting and attractive on some builds.

I have the moonlight top with alpine white and love it. Had it on my previous M240i as well.

Agree on the moonlight but looks better against the frozen grey.

Here is a question for all, if for some reason you ever needed to replace your soft top would you consider changing the color from black to moonlight or vice versa?

Not me; I have black and my car is black.....I think the moonlight would just look faded.

My moonlight top has been creased since I bought it, I've washed it and followed YouTube tutorials to try and improve the condition from washing alone. Been using raggtop spray wash.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a good remedy? I never put the top down wet and always dry it out in the sun for hours after washing. I live in Southern California.

My black top is starting to show creases also and I've only had the car since last September. I think this can happen to either of the two tops.

I also never put it down when wet and only when it's totally dry.

There is no question that moonlight shows the permanent fold creases much more than black does. Still not sure why. It's like the silver threads in it sort of disappear and the folds are all black. There's no fix for it. But I still like the moonlight on my 650.

Creases are a part of owning a rag top. No true remedy.

I owned a 2004 Mercedes CLK500 with a navy soft top until last year and you could barely see any crease marks on it after 17 years. The car was garaged when I lived in in NYC and covered after I moved to Florida.
