Can you adjust the auto dimming rear view mirror?
Is there a way to override the auto dimming on the rearview mirror and manually adjust it to your liking?

It is not a "smart" device. There is a chemical of some sort that darkens when exposed to light. Just as transition lenses do for your glasses. It has been around a long while before all this technology.

Let’s bring back the old style mirrors where you push a lever in the back and it switches from day to night time viewing.

I mentioned my complaint about the the auto dimming to a good friend that owns 2 BMW's. He just had cataract surgery and suggested that I make an appointment with my eye doctor and get intraocular lenses like he did.

On this topic of dimming mirror, my car has this weird phenomena when I open the roof during daytime, the mirrors will dim themselves. I have no idea why that happened. As soon as I close the roof the dimming disappears....
Does anyone has this problem? |

That would be the ambient light hitting the sensor. It will dissipate. Just like someone turning a light on in a dark room. Your eyes need a minute to adjust.

Thanks for the explanation. Sometimes it's annoying and takes a long time to act normal again.... Hopefully it can be corrected.
