Portimao Blue Thread

Most other forums at Bimmerpost have color based picture threads so people looking for examples can easily find. So here is my PB Z4. These are iphone pictures - I may eventually take some SLR RAW color balanced ones but I would say these at least on my screen look pretty accurate.

PB is a difficult color to capture - it varies a lot from a lot of sparkle with lighter blue hues to clear darker purplish color shades especially on curves of the car.

I will post a page of shots taken in pretty direct overhead Florida sun first. Then I will post some with a bit of direct more hazy sun. No cloudy day pics as there hasn't been clouds since I got it. Windows are 70% Kavaca tint.

Edit: will add top down pics soon - wasn’t allowed to put the windows down for 2 days per window tint installer

Lastly - I thought the light top option was just a grey fabric - it's actually a weave and up close it looks kinda like denim. I love it.

That paint reminds me of the Le Mans Blue I had on my E92. Great color, especially in the sunlight.

Love the wheels. I'd like to replace my Misano blue cars wheels with black w/chrome trim.

My friend's M240i is PB and depending on the light you definitely can see purple in the color.

The shots look fabulous!!!

Please add some pictures with the top down when you have a chance.

The top down shots look great and the cognac interior definitely goes with the PB and IMHO is a fabulous color combination and has a classic look.

PS, sorry to be a pest but is it possible to add shots with the top down and the doors open?

With the doors open the cognac interior gives the PB the “WOW” factor! 😎

100% agree with this statement. I was wondering if I'd like the cognac or not, but WOW.

Not sure if this is on purpose, but you still have the protective film over your door sill plates.

Yes. When they did the ppf they omitted the sill plates so it has to go back in a week.

Check out the car for air bubbles in the PPF before you go back. Also, check the edges and make sure there aren’t any issues.

My installer send to bring it back 1 to 2 weeks after install to check and correct for things like that.

When you go back do a close inspection of where the PPF ends along the wheel wells and open the trunk, hood and the gas tank cover. There is always a little excess PPF in those areas that might not be totally affixed to the paint and may need to be trimmed.
