It’s quite close to the hood when you close it but there’s a pad under the hood anyway. The angle of the bar to the relief in the air box doesn’t match completely but oh well. They don’t contact or anything, but if you’re ocd this might bother you

Cheers!
Looks great love the carbon fiber cross piece goes good with the intake.

Thanks!
That was actually kind of the point. I wanted something to match the carbon in the intake and I kinda lucked out that the cf pattern is in the same direction on both. The side arms are kinda close in color to my skyscraper grey also.
Btw. The center bar isn’t actually carbon. It’s metal but wrapped in a cf wrap

Here is my M3!

I am going to post a little writeup of the Z4 vs. M3 after I get some miles on the M3.

Some things I miss about the Z4 already:
--Cupholders. Maybe the automatic M3s are different, but my manual transmission model's cupholders are almost unusable.
--Sound system. I think the Z4's HK system is clearer, maybe because the tweeters are closer to your ear. But I have made no attempt to change any of the M3's settings. So, who knows which is better.
--Trunk lid. Even though the M3 has a power tailgate, it takes a little time to open. Opening the Z4's manual lid was just faster.
--The Z4 was so much cheaper

Frozen Pure Grey II. It's lighter than the Frozen Grey II had on my Z4.

Nice one - how are the seats working out for you?

Thoughts:

Auto cupholders are a winner as they move infront of the shifter.

Wear Bluetooth hearing aids tied into the car so both sound pretty much the same.

Power trunk lid is open by the time I get to it. That said with the convertible the Z4 has better trunk access.

Z4 was bought when there still were discounts, rebates, unused lease miles, finance at 0.9% lease & a comped weekend at the performance driving school. M4C was MSRP less the BMWCCA rebate & 0.9% loan. Spread was about $30,000 in favor of the Z4.

The power tailgate is nice if you have your hands full, since it had the kick to open feature. I had this on my M340i and is one thing I miss on my Z4.

Congrats !

Regarding the sound system. If it’s the same HK I had in my m340i then it should be better than the Z4 HK when set up I remember I used to be able to turn the volume and bass all the way up if I wanted to without it getting distorted

Congratulations on the new car!

That said, I cannot possibly imagine missing the cupholders in the Z4. They're easily one of the worst things about the car, mainly due to being placed inside the center armrest.

Thanks. The lighting suggested frozen but the lighter color and the water shine had me second guessing myself.

I agree about the location of the G29's cupholders, they are the only complaint I have about the design of the interior.

After reading what Charles has posted I am starting to feel a little better knowing that there is another BMW model which has cupholders that are worse than mine.

I should clarify; I think the M3's cupholders suck because I have the manual trans and I hit whatever's in them with my knuckles when I shift.

Not saying the Z4's were great in any way.

Today I worked on the front bumper covers. They were pretty pitted. Figured I would try this before replacing them. If anyone has replaced them, would appreciate tips on how to remove without damage to bumper.

These will do for now. After and before. Used a 1400 grit to sand down and then polished with polishing compound.

Taking my car to have the ceramic coating polished. This is the car pre polishing.

I suspect the workers are in for an easy time this morning 😂👍

Not specifically today, but over the past couple of weeks I’ve had a new driveway surface done. Now it matches the car better 😎

Do they offer personalized license plates in Thailand?

Not in the sense that you know it in USA.

Each province has an official picture, which might be a flower or land mark associated with that province. It’s possible to pay in order to purchase a number plate with that as the background instead of plain white.

In addition, the numbers roll off sequentially and it’s possible to bribe the land transport office to let you jump the queue to get a number that you like. Thai people are very keen on twins so something like 3355, 7799, or something like that would be popular. People seem to ignore the letters.

It’s all hugely expensive because elite Thai’s see both as a status symbol, so I have never bothered in the past.
