Hitch for 2020 M40
The Stealth Hitch company that has done all my other M cars said they could not put one on mine. All I have ever towed with any of my M cars is a single rail motorcycle for my Duc which only weights about 659 lbs. If I can not find one that does not show when the ball assembly is removed "oh well". Looking for suggestions. Thanks

I'd certainly want to see proof of an install (with model details) before I purchased. Pat Rogers Hitches & Trailers in Marietta installed hitches for me on a couple cars - maybe they'll have some insight. |

Thanks for the link.
How can you tell? It just looks like the Z4 model used for the images is a non-sport package 30i. But they all (30i, 30i with sport package, and m40i) have a faux diffuser/trim piece on the back. I haven't looked underneath my m40i, but I think the instructions are intended to be generic. Case in point: stuck a hitch on my 2012 GT500 so I could use a hitch mounted bike rack. The hitch & instructions were generic for Mustang, but it did fit outside/under the diffuser and worked fine. Quote:

Good call. I didn't think to check the manufacturer website.

I would NOT touch Stealth Hitch (changed name to something else.. Hidden Hitch?). I had one installed on my 2015 X5 35D to pull a 21' Winnie Trailer. Worked great for almost 18 months and multiple trips.. until it didn't. The whole hitch literally dropped out of the bottom while pulling trailer with whole family in the vehicle. I am VERY safety oriented especially when our whole family is counting on me. We were well below the specs for the hitch and only pulling about 3,900 pounds at the time.
Luckily we had JUST pulled off the interstate and were only going about 25 mph. I was NOT happy. Sent pictures of damaged X5, hitch, damage trailer to Stealth. It took them almost 6 months to even refund the cost of the hitch, but did not cover any damage to X5 or trailer. We have a BMW installed hitch and the mechanics of the latch is much better. I had to modify our bike rack to fit, but it works well. If this saves anyone else the headache and possible lives, I have done my job. -Rant off- |
