Portable Working LED Light Recommendations

Could you guys share what you are using in your garage to illuminate your work area.

I'd like to get a portable led light (corded or battery), but there are quite a few out on the market.

Would like to hear some of your reviews on the ones you have.

Preferably I'd like something that has a magnetic base but can also be propped on a stand.

Is it just for shop working? Paint correction/detailing? general use case?

There are some AWESOME battery powered LED floods now to choose from. As a home-guy, I like the kobalt stuff and have really liked their new brushless drills, so I have quite a few of their batteries because of it. They have an awesome LED flood that works with that. For paint correction, I built a tripod setup using simple high power LED floodlights and a nice base. I also have a few nice magnet based hand sized lights I use here and there.

I have the TacLight and it's terrible. Was good for a bit and then the light output just degraded.

Would be just for general use. Something that can provide adequate lighting for work under the hood.

For wired I have a Porter Cable light I grabbed from Costco for <$90 and it is great, just need to wait for it to come back in stock.

For wireless I like the Milwaukee Rover lights. I have the M12 version as those are the tools I have but there is a M18 version as well with more lumens. They have a magnetic base that works great and a built in clamp which makes it very versatile. They run deals quite often on the Milwaukee stuff at Home Depot.

Works off power cord or the Makita battery. I get about 4 hrs on low with the 2.0amp battery. Also mounts up to light stands.

Maxxeon Cyclops 811 cheap $30 light thats magnetic. It s a cheaper alternative to the snapon light for $120. I bought 3 of them for $75 the light output is great. I work on heavy equipment and have to put myself into so dark dirty areas and I have zero complaints with them if I end up leaving one on a machine it was only $30 so I am not as pissed as if it was $120 snapon light.

Makita does not miss on much, but they do miss on their lights. I have a few of them and they just don't compare to Milwaukee. Less functionality, less lumens (comparing my 18v Makita to 12v Milwaukee) and the light is more of a cool LED rather than a "true" light ~4000k which gives better detail and is a little easier on the eyes.

How much of continuous use can you get before the battery drains?

I’ve run them for about 4 hours without having to recharge it all depends on what setting its on too.

Unfortunately it does't come with a battery or a charger.

I don't know if this fits your use case under the hood but this thing is a champ, I call it the daymaker. I bought at Costco but haven't seen it there in years, maybe they sell it other places.
