Issue with phone overheating and not charging

Anyone have issue's with that? Not sure if I should take in to dealer. iPhone just gets hot and barely charges on pad. Just did the latest firmware but didn't seem to help any. Currently have a iPhone X. It worked when I first got the car. Not so much anymore.

Yes, most of the time, after charging for some time, the phone overheated & stop charging. So I never close the small door of the charging pad & sometimes even have to take off the phone case.

My iphone 11 pro was stuck, black screen and not responding after a trip on the charging pad and with the lid closed. It was very hot.
It took me a while to force restarted
So long, I thought it broke down because of the heat.
Since them always the lid open.

I have the same issue with an iPhone SE, it's not compatible with the wireless charging but it heats up and drains the battery very fast if not plugged in and when plugged in it still gets hot, I think the problem is more with the airplay than the charging, I had the same issue with a game, it caused the phone to heat up and lose charge very fast, it's likely a software issue.

Same problema with iPhone X. No heating with CarPlay if it's not charging on the wireless pad. Is there any way to disable the wireless charging ?

Same with my XS. I either keep the phone in my pocket, or if I need to charge it I've got a short USB-Lightning cable permanently plugged in under the centre arm rest.

Same for me with a Samsung S9.

Hardly any recharge but plenty of heat.

It's a known issue, but how severe seems to depend on the phone model and load, ie what apps are running. Using car play, Waze, music will always lead to shutdown of ACP after one hour or so on my phone (iPhone XS).
For longer trips I bring a cable.

This is a common "issue" in BMW wireless chargers. Essentially a heating pad when used in conjunction with CarPlay. In fact, BMW also admitted the USB port in their cars are not designed to charge the phone. This is due to the relatively small power output from those ports where occasionally it cannot meet the demand of your devices.

The only port that is designated as reliable charging is the cigarette socket. This "port" delivers power much higher than the USB ports.
