Post Cinco de Mayo Recap

Today, we decided to head down the road for some margaritas & take out. The parking lot was packed. People had their foldable chairs out on the side walk. You had others tailgating on the back of their car. The mayor had set up a tent with tables that were social distance appropriate. The mayor was there with a mask on. His security detail & his daughter did not have a mask on. There was also a 3 piece band. Social distancing was absolutely not being practiced. There was a line to order food and pick up food which basically had people less than a foot apart. I stayed 6ft behind the guy in front of me waiting to order a margarita. The 2 ladies behind me were way to close.

I would say 95% were not wearing masks. I will be very interested to see where our parish is in cases in the next 2 weeks.

Did anyone go out for Cinco de Mayo?

Yes. It was a good time. If you’re concerned with people not following social distancing practices and wearing masks, I found out that drenching your body in liquid ass does a good job of keeping people away from you

That just made me lol. It would be hilarious to watch people as they walked up to you.

It's weird, I want to keep my distance as not to offend other people but then people just invade my space. I have mixed emotions on the whole thing.

Covered in liquid ass... Would that be eating nothing but canned clams and refried beans, do a handstand, and then let your asshole rip?

I live near downtown Houston; went out for a jog in the afternoon. On my way back passed a bunch of restaurants. They had set up tables outside to make up for their reduced crowd capacity allowed inside. Tables were packed and no one was practicing social distancing. Hope I am wrong but I fully expect to see a big spike in a couple of weeks.

We stayed in and made our own food. I don't drink....so not a big deal for me.

The Mayor has a Security Detail?

Went out to a local place for some drinks an tacos. Tables we're spaced 12ft apart. All staff had gloves an masks. Tables were completely sanitized prior to sitting a new group. People around the entrance were spaced out. So I'd say social distancing was still being practiced fairly thoroughly. We did wait a good bit for a table since there were minimal due to spacing, but that is what it is.

Were still not open yet....soon I hope, we can only get take away here. My wife loves to cook and has been fattening me up for the slaughter since we met....She did Fish Taco's with Spanish Rice on the side and Fried bananas for dessert...

Our liquor store has gotten pretty picked over so no proper Cerveza's for us but some really cold MGD stepped up.

It's just one guy but yeah. He drives him everywhere & is always with him.

We are still on a state wide stay at home order with the ability to eat outside until May 15th.

I forgot to add this last night. The first place we went to with the band, tents, & multiple lines was chaos. When you walked up you couldn't tell which line was for what. They had one to order, one to pick up, & one for drinks (no signage). We ordered 2 large top shelf & with taxes it was $50 for both. They tasted like shit & we had them remake it (still tasted like crap). We moved to the food line next & after about 30 minutes they announced they were out of food.

We drove to another place around the corner & they had it together. Just one line but people were not 6ft apart. A few people drove by & hollered you're not social distancing lol. They dispersed more after they placed their order. They were so efficient in order taking & since it was much later we were able to sit at one of the tables and eat. We should have made our own margs at home & bought carne asada to grill.

Drove 30 minutes to grab some authentic Mexican food, got myself 10 tacos of various meats. The place is tiny and attached to a gas station, so they could only have 1 person inside at a time. Whilst waiting outside for my order, along with probably 20 other people, 2 people starting arguing and almost got into a fight. I tried to tell them to chill out, that we all are just waiting on food, but it obviously didn't help. They made a fool of themselves, was quite entertaining.

Yeah, I forgot to include that NOLA still can't.

I just don't understand her. I saw a glimpse of something yesterday where she said that NOLA will struggle to recover. Geez lady, I wonder why.

Had a few Coronas with our taco bar at home. Nothing too extravagant, although I think beef is more expensive than fish now

I came home expecting a lavish home-cooked Mexican meal.

The wife argued with her sister for 2.5 hours on the phone, so I made a turkey sammich on brioche and went to bed. Tequila is gone already, and now I'm on call anyways

Forever un-Mexican

sad, ate leftover ribeye, and picked at whatever the kids didn't eat.

didn't even have a margarita.

a 'normal' Cinco de Mayo is quite different at my house.

Risk COVID-19 over some tacos and drinks? I'll pass, I'll leave that to the others.

That's the saddest Cinco De Mayo story i've ever heard lol. You'll have to make up for it when the mexican restaurants are open.
