I think it was designed by Marketing, not Engineering.

Thanks for sharing, BMWGirlFL.

A downside is repair of CFRP structure. It’s brittle and can’t be worked like metals. Plus, CFRP exhibits damage modes such as delamination (ply separation) that can severely degrade structural integrity and is not always visible. Don’t mean to be a downer. CFRP is obviously super cool, there’s just never a free lunch..!
