Logo projectors for doors. Anyone have these?

Just curious on these. It specifically mentions they aren’t compatible with the ambient lighting option, which I have as part of the premium package. Does anyone have them and can confirm this?

The odd thing is the 50th anniversary versions don’t say this. I’m really confused as to why they wouldn’t be compatible. Link to what I’m looking at below.

These?

This is not my car, but you can see the puddle lights and the ambient lights in this photo. I have the same door puddle lights, as do others, and they work fine with ambient lighting.

From the ShopBMWUSA page:

· Direct replacement for the existing door entry lights.
So I looked at my car. It has what appears to be the standard door entry light - a small rectangular light under the door pocket.

And from my build sheet, I too have Ambient Lighting. BUT it is code 4UR, not 4U4, so it should fit but a VIN check should still be done.

Just make sure you get the correct size. The Z4 takes the smaller, 50 mm, size.

Yes, confirmed they fit. I have them on my Z4 with ambient lighting. The BMW (and MINI) store is a hot mess, has been for years. They just don't keep it updated and accurate. I complained about it years ago to BMW but it hasn't gotten any better. They're losing money because they don't accurately identify all of the models and model years that are compatible. Knowing that 2019-present model years of Z4s are typically compatible in accessories, I sometimes have to experiment, plugging in newer or older model years to find the full (limited) range of accessories for my G29. It's truly sad they don't keep up. They're leaving money on the table.

As an aside, it looks like the bmw web site doesn’t show part numbers(?). I got mine from getBMWparts.com

It does. You just have to expand the "show more" at the bottom. Shows 63312463924, so same as yours.

Amazon about $20 in the summer of 2020. Regardless of where you buy them the Z4's are shorter than the standard 3/4 series.

Works with ambient lightning. FWIW or not, I have coded my ambient lights for a true red rather than the orange that came with the car. IMHO really suits the black on black car.

That is my car in the link from ebirotedu and they were easy to install. The ambient lighting was not a factor. Use the part numbers from the links and you will be fine.

Out of curiosity, did you have to have to use any special tools in order to remove the old light and install the new one?

I used a small non-metalic scraper from a trim kit I bought to pop them out. You could just use a medium flat head screw driver just be careful not to damage the edges. See below for the trim kit I bought.

Or you could just use a simple screwdriver as BMW instructs in its official “how to install” video. Takes 2 seconds.
