Connected App Rat'd me out

The vehicle let me know I need my oil change. It then let the dealer know who started e-mailing me to set up an appointment

Going in Thursday for first service appointment

This is a good thing...

I'm not sure there is much else as important than oil maintenance.

the time based oil change intervals are such a scam. My Jaguar has a 20,000km oil change interval OR one year (whichever comes first)......the last oil change had 1750 kms on it!

I didn't wait for the 20.000 km or two years.
Did an oil change at 10.000 km, exactly 1 year.
Most likely good for the engine in the long run and not much money considering the car's price.

I'd have no problem doing it at 10,000 kms or even 5,000kms but under 2,000 kms when I know darn well the oil is fine, was a bit of a tough pill to swallow. ;-)

I have 5,000 miles on it so wasnt concerned, but its free under the maintenance plan. They run synthetic so it doesnt need it at 5,000

I change my own oil in my Land Cruiser and use Synthetic I do 10K to 12K miles between changes

It was interesting at the dealer. The Connect app kept up with doors and hoods opening and closing. I could essentially follow along. When everything was buttoned up and locked again I could see it sitting in the complete area just waiting for the service advisor to finish the paperwork

Pretty cool
