Red face G29 Remapping Locked?

Hi All,

So I've just spoken to two well reputable performance shops in London for quotes on a standard stage 1 remap (~15% bhp gain).

One has come back saying no problem, but the other more established shop has said the following:

"We have checked in with our mappers and they have said all ECUs are locked from June 2020 so he has said it is not possible."

Can anyone confirm? If so I am probably being spun a lie by the other shop!

Have you tried ECU tek?
My tuner in Shanghai has alliance with them.

I got my car in beginning on 2020 and tuned first time on March.
But around august, system automagically update itself and I had to re-tune it...
I recall ECU tek helped out.

Remember, if you remapped ECU, turn off the auto update on your iDrive system and your BMW App in your phone!

No!! My 2020 Z4 is already mapped and has now 310 BHP. The ECU is blocked but every good tuner can crack this blockage.

It's a well known issue in the Supra world. Look up ThicWhips on YouTube. One of his latest videos talks about the difference between 2020 and 2021 Supras and how to check the date on your ECU physically to verify if it can be tuned.

From the Supra world it seems that ECU's from June 2020 onward are the ones that are locked out. The only way to know is to physically check the sticker on the ECU.

I’ve been told the same by Litchfield. I’m waiting for confirmation but I guess my car was built after June 2020. The ac schnitzer box is an expensive alternative.

Hi guys

I asked Shiftech a famous Belgian/French mapping company and they confirm it was blocked on new BMW since 2020...
Except someone managed it since then....

Is the ECU locked for bimmercode too or just for engine remapping?
If its locked for both then it sucks.
Is it locked for all BMW from June 2020?

It seems to be only engine remap blocked
And this company is very used to check all the solution on every single model / brand etc....
Anyway for warranty reason, I did not want to do it since BMW can blacklist you in case you need but once the warranty is expired... :/
Exactly from june 2020

Has anyone updates about all this?

Yes cvieri59 is correct, the new ecu is locked for tubing but BimmerCode is still possible. See my other posts.
