How do you like that stock? I'm looking for the right stock for my AR-10 (.308) and that's one of the ones I am looking at

I haven't gotten a chance to go shooting yet, but it feels very solid and comfortable. I love the tool-less adjustment of the cheek riser, length of pull, and height/cant of the butt-plate.

Nah....my mint condition, 1944 matching numbers, Lee-Enfield No.4T sniper rifle wasn't far off 10k..........still gets used as much as I can.
No point in having a nice bang stick and not making it go bang as often as possible

Anyone have any opinions on bullpup style, likely in a 5.56? Thinking about picking one up, not decided on any particular model yet.

This is what you're looking for.

https://iwi.us/product/tavor-x95-5-56-nato-w16-barrel/

I have one of these chambered in 9mm. Tons of fun to shoot. Effectively a SBR without a tax stamp. The x95 utilizes all the same AR functions, controls, etc... The x95 would be my next 5.56 rifle, if i were buying another rifle.

Are you looking more for fun or function? Is length a factor? A huge perk of the bullpup design in 5.56x45 is that you get to take advantage of the extra barrel length. So if that's what you want you may want to look at something like the bushmaster M17S. Ugly as sin but all business and 21.5 inch barrel in a rifle about the size of a carbine-length AR-15. Steyr AUG would be another possibility. Otherwise I agree with the Tavor option, a little lighter and much more ergonomic.

*not to say that the Tavor won't keep up, but that extra barrel really does make a difference.

For me (I have a Tavor), it's the overall balance and maneuverability once shouldered.

However, I had very little experience with the AR platform prior to purchasing my Tavor. If you're used to the AR controls, there's a good chance you'll be frustrated with a Tavor at first. If that's the case, then look at the X95.

The latest gotta-have-it Bullpup is the Desert Tech MDR, btw.

I have a Tavor, I just bought it because I found it interesting. I have done one class with it, it ran perfect.

A friend of mine, with far more trigger time behind an AR (SWAT team guy for many years), fired it and thought recoil felt 'weird' they definitely have a different feel.

I like the way the gun is balanced when it is on your shoulder, you can easily control it with one hand if you need to (reloads and such).

These things are mainly toys to me, I like taking classes and learning how to use them, but I would be more proficient if I just stuck to one platform. That being said.

The Tavor is a very modern design, I think it is a very interesting piece just to take apart and look at. It comes apart with no tools, everything is modular, you can switch it to left hand if you want to (I never have).

The biggest issue with a bullpup is the trigger, it is...not good. I replaced mine with a Timney and it is MUCH improved, it will never be as good as an aftermarket/precision trigger in an AR, but it is good now.

I have read good thing about the AUG, in CA they are a little difficult to come by, I would probably have bought one if I had the chance a couple of years ago.

9mm carbine is always fun to shoot. No recoil, nearly constant rounds on target, fast and accurate follow up shots. Cheap to shoot.

The x95 has the same controls as the AR and staunch AR users tend to love it. It's a completly different feel to an AR though. When you swing an AR while shouldered it feels like a .50bmg compared to a bullpup. Like i said, it's effetely a SBR without the tax stamp.

Yes, Yes, Yes

The closest you can get to an SBR in CA

School me on shotguns please - what ones do you like and why. I'm probably looking at pump because I need to keep this below $700, so please let me know any recommendations around that level or cheaper. Using for trap/skeet and duck / turkey hunting.

Any opinions on Franchi? I was looking at maybe a benelli Nova?

I'm partial to the Remington 870 because I had family members that worked there. You can find one under $700

I have an 870 but it's short barrel for hallway sweeping. Added side saddle, ghost rings, sling, non mim extractor, light, vang comp safety, vang follower, and few other things can't recall

Don't shoot clay, turkey, so unsure about others. Lots of good shit out there.

Yeah, buddy of mine just picked one up. I'm considering that as well, but everyone I seem to talk to speaks highly of Benelli.

This to be clear is never going to be a defense gun (unless 4 legged predators), strictly target and hunting. So I'd appreciate recommendations that are geared to hunting.

Will be going long barrel, as no sweeping

Benelli Supernova. 3.5" shell capacity for duck and turkey. I have a Benelli Cordoba and love it. It's a smooth shooter with great ergonomics. The Supernova looks to handle similarly. Not much to think about for me on this one.

Though, the CZ 612 Magnum is another one i'd consider.
