Key Card and Comfort Access

For those that got their Z4 G29 with Comfort Access, did BMW give you a key card? I have the feature and even have my phone working with it, but I never got a key card.

you SHOULD have gotten two Key FOBs.

Guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks. I prefer the fobs. I got enough plastic in my wallet.

Yes, generally the fobs are much much more useful, which is why I've not worried about the key card.

However, the key card is useful for things like going to the beach or using valet parking.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. The feature comes with Comfort Access Keyless Entry (page 83 of the owner's manual), and you can tell if you have it by looking at the wireless charging tray and seeing if there is a 3 curved bars above the phone icon.

NFC keys works with cards or also your iPhone. And I've already set up my iPhone to work with the system.

However, should an NFC card also have been included with the car, or is that an extra you have to buy?

Can only speak for the UK but yes it was included in our cars with Comfort Access.

Never used the plastic. Phone or FOB is good for me.

I did get the two fobs and the key card.
The key card is really useful for example if you go swimming, it will work after been underwater.

I'm thinking all the M40s have the comfort access. I suggest you enquire with the dealer and site OM page number. It suggests that it is supposed to come with it.

If all else fails, I will tell ya in a couple of weeks. Plan to collect mine on 19 JUN 21.

Update: I just read the manual and it appears the plastic card is determined by locale. It may be that it is not standard equipment in the States like it is in Europe. Still worth a try with the dealership.

Yea, that's what I was thinking. However, I wanted some ammo before I talked to my dealer :-)

My M40i came with this, I found it in the glove box. It's the size of a credit card. I did not realize what it was until just now.

I am thinking it must have been an honest mistake if it wasn't included.
Mine was under the owner's manual sleeve in the glove box.

My wife’s Tesla uses either the phone or an RF card (both water proof) and I love it. I always have my phone and wallet with me, and no key fob to worry about. Does the Z4’s card/phone interface work if you leave the card in your wallet or do you have to take it out and hold it close to the sensor to start the car?

For the phone or card, you must have it in the charging tray.
