My M40i has done around 6,300km but it does not show any service required warning. Vehicle status declares all OK and advises oil service due Sept 2021 or 6,000 kms. Now booked in next week so will see what the dealer says. Has anyone else experienced this?

I believe the message means you need to drive another 6,000km for service to be required. You would have 12,300km on the car in that case.

BMW's standard service interval is based on time and distance, whichever you reach first. So even if you don't put another km on the car by Sept 2021, service will still be due Sept 2021.

Agreed. Additionally, if you choose to perform a service, such as an oil change, prior to the dictated service interval; it is not covered under the included maintenance. Be wary.

That's my understanding - the value is remaining until service.

My Z has about 2,500 miles on it and the oil service is still showing I have just under 8,000 to go or the in-service anniversary.
