Ceramic Coating makes washing a breeze!
The washing process is basically just a rinse and dry. I was skeptical, but a believer now.

It's great we live in the future. I consulted the oracle and found there is a ceramic coating for matte finishes. It's like a Ceramic Pro Coat 9H compound. That's what I recall at least. I requested a quote to determine cost/ benefit ratio.

Looks great jcard71!
I love my ceramic coating which I applied myself to "Miss Daisy", our X5. CQuartz UK 3.0 is what I used after spending hours watching real tests of all kinds of coatings on YouTube. It's really tough stuff and durable. Haven't tried the enclosed Reload yet. I'll be applying CQuartz to "Duke", our new Z4 in the fall. For the cost of a little time and about $90 in product, wipes, etc. it's a no brainer. |

We get a lot of pollen in NE and I can definitely see the difference between my Z4 hand my daily driver when it comes to ease of wash and shine.

Frozen Grey Ceramic Coating
Yes you can Ceramic coat the Frozen Grey paint with the right product. I used Gyen Quartz Matte and Cure Matte as a quick detailer after wash.
https://gyeonquartzusa.com/product/matte/ Washing is an absolute breeze especially in AZ since it mostly just dust and road grime on the very bottom. I have the whole front and rocker panels covered with matte bra. Ceramic coatings work on that too. |

Is this ceramic coating pretty easy to apply? Anything to consider? Haven't looked much into it before though, especially with hard water here, I'd say this is probably something I'd want to use.

Even though you would think that factory paint is perfect, it's not. Mine had scratches that the shop had to buff out. DO NOT apply ceramic coatings until your paint is perfect. |

I have horrible water spots all over my black Z4. Tried all the usual vinegar, and commercial products with no improvement.
Been thinking about paint correction and then ceramic. Has anyone done a paint correction first and did it make a big difference? |

You shouldn't apply ceramic coating before paint correction or you will just cover up all the swirls and water spots with the ceramic coating.

Otherwise you are looking at what will effectively be paint correction. Probably worth biting the bullet. It'll take you all day to get it done, maybe a little longer, but the result should be worth it. BMW's metallic paints are pretty hard but quite correctable. What I did - wash the car with a strong soap (like Dawn) to strip off existing protection. Decon (IronX)/clay bar as needed, rewash, then use a random orbital buffer (Porter Cable 7424XP was always good to me) with Meguiar's M105 and a cutting pad. I taped up the edges of the hood, rooflines, and so on with painter's tape before that. (Very important unless you want caked white residue showing in those places.) Then polish with Meguiar's M205 and a finishing pad. Apply some good paint sealant afterwards or go for the ceramic coat. Sealant was my choice, it lasts months and if you apply wax after your regular washes (Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax is my go-to), it can last longer. Charles

Additionally, would this be applicable to the Frozen Grey with the appropriate coatings for matte paint?
