Roadsters require a different lifestyle

IMO a real sports car only has 2 seats. However, many first time roadster owners wind up trading it in a year or two when they realize the impact of only being able to transport 1 friend or family member anywhere. It's a significant social impact.

The only social impact is that my friends now know I am no longer their chauffeur. 😉

Felt like updating this thread:

I've had my Z4 for about 6 weeks now and yesterday when I took it out for a drive, it was the first time that it felt like I'd totally acclimated to it - there was no sense that the steering was heavier, or the braking more immediate, than what I was used in my daily-driver. As soon as I started driving, the Z4 felt like an extension of me.

Anyhow, I had a great drive yesterday afternoon and it had me considering that I'm really happy with my choice. The Z4 does everything I want it to do from driving serenely along with the top up and the radio on, to hauling ass and making wonderful engine sounds when I drop the hammer or fly through an empty roundabout (which are increasingly everywhere in Georgia).

As I may have noted in an earlier post, the Z4's limits are at a level that's well beyond what I can safely manage on public roads (excepting the occasional straight line blast or hooning around a roundabout). Had I ended up with something more track oriented, or more supercar-like and powerful, I don't think I'd really be exploring it's capabilities fully or enjoying it any more than I am the Z4. But I'd probably be getting crappier mileage.

More importantly, why did it take me this long to realize how much fun I'd have with a convertible?

And for good measure, some not so great photos of some places I drove yesterday!
