I would love to see this treatment to the m240i. Probably canibalize too many m2 sales that way though.

Really enjoy the auto, but happy to see the Z4 pull in more enthusiasts who wouldn’t have considered it previously!

I drove a bunch of manuals over the years, never looked or considered where the RPMs were when I shifted. Feedback from the engine told me when to shift.

Perhaps true but the new Z4 manual very well may change that impression. Read the reviews.

Maybe a better way to frame the comparison for folks.
1M not a real M?!

I would definitely not equate this manual Z4 to the 1M jump from a 135. It’s still an M40i without the big boy engine and the M brakes etc.

It will be a fun car, but it’s not a full blown M.

The red looks spectacular in person, and so does the blue and purple.

In any case, the new MT option sounds exciting, though being forced to take the 19/20 staggered setup with it is a downside IMO.

I'm hoping for Brooklyn Grey to finally come to the Z4...

I agree, the blue and purple are really good. It also looks like the red is a winner too now that I’ve seen a good pic of it. That configurator doesn’t do it any justice.

I was thinking it would be cool if they offered a whole bunch of colors from the Z3 era…Imola Red, Dakar Yellow, Estoril Blue as a going away tribute to ICE powered roadsters.

Whats wrong with bigger wheels and larger tread size? I always hated my old M235is non staggered 18 inch 225s.

We get standard 19s 275s rear which is what the f80/82 had on launch.

The new M3/4 has I think 19 inch back 285 and 275 front either 18 or 19 inches and one other option is 20s in the rear.

This z4 is a non M but has the widest tires and large wheels. Even the M240i doesn't come close. Plus the z4 has the best looking stock wheels also imo

Not sure what you are looking for? Did you want some 18 inch 225s??

20 inch like so good on the pics I saw, and the new wheels are my favorite two tone wheels so far. I'm definitely going to slap on 295s when I replace my rears and 265 or 275 in thr front

Wider tires I understand, but larger wheels don't make much sense as long as you can still fit the brakes.

Currently on the M40i, 18s are offered with a 40 aspect ratio and 19s with 35. 20s would likely be 30 which is not enough sidewall IMO.

While I'm not against it being offered, I'd prefer to not have to get 20s if I opt for the manual.

This is the tire set-up from the F8X CS models.

The Z4 really is a unicorn in BMW’s line-up and actually does share a lot of parts with M models. Even more now.

The tires are lifted from the F8X M models, the suspension is from the G8X models. The B58 means it’ll sound fantastic. The only part that’s shared with non/M models is the firewall. Otherwise the Z4 is pretty bespoke in the bmw line-up. My GM doesn’t know if it’s coming to Canada yet, but I’m hoping to order mine for a spring 2025 delivery.

I rented one of these on Turo and spent a few days ripping around Sedona. Great little car, had a real sense of solidity about it. With the top down you could nicely hear the B58. With a manual it’s a really compelling car, and moves it more from GT towards sports car. It was driving this car that made me shell out more for thr B58 in my m340.
